President Obama released a 7-minute video called “Forward" last week. It’s the usual Obama meme of Bush wrecked everything and obstructionist Republicans are halting progress. No mention of the fact that the Democrats controlled both the House and the Senate by large majorities for the first two years of Obama’s term.
The video begins by saying how incredibly bad things were in 2008, when Bush was president. You know, when the annual deficit was roughly 1/3 of what it is today. Then it goes on to tout President Obama’s accomplishments, like saving the economy (pay no attention to the real unemployment rate behind the curtain), and the auto industry (debatable).
Plus he, like, totally fixed the over-regulated health insurance industry by adding more regulations. Or something.
But then!! The evil Republicans came in, and instead of “working together to lift America up, [they] were waging a campaign to tear the president down.” Following that statement is a montage of prominent Republicans publically saying, “Vote no!” to President Obama’s policies.
Democrats practically sneer as they say, “Republicans are the Party of No,” like it’s a bad thing. It’s never wrong to say no when you disagree with something. Heck, not a single Democrat agreed with President Obama’s proposed budget, so why don’t we call them the Party of No?
The word NO can be a good thing when it’s the answer to the question of whether or not to spend money that’s just not there. It would be amazing to live in a land where everyone worked according to their ability, and took only according to their need -- but we don’t. We live in an imperfect world, where people work as hard as they need to in order to pay for the things they want/need to buy.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. We have family, friends, activities, hobbies, etc. that enhance our lives. We have goals and ambitions in our professional lives too. The trick is to find that balance that works for us. The government coming in and demanding that people start paying other people’s bills is not an incentive to anyone to be as productive as possible.
Videos like this one are incredibly frustrating because they sound wonderful but are not based in reality. Of course prosperity for all would be wonderful, but money doesn’t grow on trees. Taking money from someone that’s earned it to pay someone else’s medical bills (or any bills) isn’t charity -- it’s theft.
Nothing wrong with saying no to that.

The slogan for republicans this year.. really exciting... That will for sure get everyone out to the polls!!!....... NOT.
For the life of me I will never understand how abortion, birth control, and 'free' health care are the issues that liberal women plant their flag on. I totally get taking a stance for things that are important to you, but that those things are all about transferring accountability onto someone else, I'm just flabbergasted.
I'm ashamed of the citizens of this country too Autumnleaves. That people were so naive to vote this guy in to begin with. He came out of nowhere and I hope that's where he goes back to.
Just so you know, I'd have voted for Clinton had she made it. Not everyone is strictly a party voter like you imply.
LOL! Obama campaign grossly over-estimated the crowd that would turn out for his "campaign kick-off" (snort! he's been on a never-ending campaign for the last 3.5 years) event in Columbus, Ohio. It was so bad, they had to move people to seats closer to the floor so that the camera angles could make it look like the place was packed -- it wasn't! Bad miscalculation on the campaign's part.
Then obama pathetically tries to rally the troops and urges the crowd: "If people ask you what this campaign is about, you tell them it's still about hope. You tell them it's still about change."
After 3 1/2 years of broken promises, unfulfilled promises, a stalled economy, spiraling unemployment, America's credit rating down-graded, still-failing schools, government over-reach and regulation, energy costs rising, Democrats who STILL have not passed a budget since he took office, and other failed policies too numerous to name here, etc., people aren't buying the HopenChange hype again.
Hallelujia!
The Obama campaign apparently didn't look backwards into history when selecting its new campaign slogan, "Forward" — a word with a long and rich association with European Marxism.
Many Communist and radical publications and entities throughout the 19th and 20th centuries had the name "Forward!" or its foreign cognates.
The name (phrase) Forward carries a special meaning in socialist political terminology. It has been frequently used as a name for socialist, communist and other left-wing newspapers and publications.
Engels, Trotsky: "Vorwaerts" (Forward) Social Democratic Party, Germany
Lenin: "Vepered" (Forward) Russia
Daniel Blair: "I believe Obama is much too intelligent not to know the meaning of the word "Forward." To use it for his campaign should speak volumes for his intention."

Don't vote for Obama, Komrades.
