If I were going to ask Mitt Romney and Barack Obama three questions, here's what I'd ask. While the 2012 election has cast a sharp line between both sides, my first question would be about bringing the two parties together.
"What characteristics do you have that would appeal to members of the opposition and help eliminate the stalemate in Washington?"
Americans want progress, not gridlock. I would love to know how each of them could be effective in building bridges around the issues that concern us all. And I would like them to cite examples where they initiated change but had to work with the other party to get it implemented.
My second question:
"What do you see as the defining difference between a Democrat and a Republican -- and are social issues part of that definition?"
I believe the difference should ultimately be about small government versus big. Republicans believe in a market driven economy; Democrats believe it is the government's role, in many cases, to intervene. The question Republicans have of Democrats is: "At what cost?"
My third question:
"Will women be better off as a result of your leadership?"
All that talk about birth control was wildly off the mark when many women are struggling to pay their mortgages, keep their small businesses afloat, or make up for the losses to their retirement plans in recent years. It is totally patronizing to talk to us about birth control and abortion. These issues are ultimately are about women's rights concerning their own bodies and have no place in politics.

Great questions! I enjoy reading your posts. You use intelligence and commonsense and don't sink to name calling, rhetoric, snark, and hysteria.
great questions!
Personally, as a woman, I am not better off as a result of the current leadership.
1. You're wanting to know what about their personalities that won't add to the gridlock (caused mainly by YOUR party)?
Why not ask what they will do to ease the gridlock and forge a better governing body?
2. Differences. Differences. Differences. That's all you care about?!
Why not ask them what SIMILARITIES they see in the other party (so that your Q1 is answered in a pragmatic and healthy manner vs continuing to drive the wedge)?
3. A fair question, but you're Republican, right? Chances are...a "Christian", yes?
What about the sick? (Oh wait you don't want to give them affordable healthcare) What about the poor (f*ck the poor. Tax cuts for the wealthy 1%) What about the old? (They had their chance too, right?) What about the children (Hey, you weren't for affordable birth control, but all for death penalty - give them till year 18. Texas will soon be offering a twofer for those bastards)...
Better question to ask - WWJD to either party knowing their stances hur women, the sick, the elderly, the poor...are you a proud humanitarian for your people?
I guess it's easy being a Republican (different from conservative), or a Mom. Neither require an IQ > 100 so today, you get a pass.
\end of rant\f

Good grief, ChicagoDude -- did you need to blow off some steam?
You say ". . . it's easy being a Republican (different from conservative), or a Mom. Neither require an IQ > 100." (On a website devoted to "moms" no less!)
Here's what you told amandasmomma to do: "validate your statement. Cite proof & apply reasoning to your claim." LOL! I'd like to see you do that with regard to your insults to "Republicans" and "moms".
It looks like it's safe to say that: you don't care for Republicans, moms, Texans, and Christians; you don't understand that Obama is the Poster Child causing any gridlock in D.C. (as Guest points out to you); you don't understand that the Left is the side perpetually screeching about so-called "social" issues, instead of focusing on the imminent threats of a crashing economy, spiraling unemployment rates, etc.
Mockery and insults -- nice job, ChicagoDude!
