Ashley Judd Gives Rick Santorum an 'Abortion' Scolding He'll Never Forget (VIDEO)

LOL 100

ashley juddAshley Judd is becoming my favorite feminist -- not to mention my favorite Judd. Last week she lashed out at the media for picking at her appearance. This week she took on Rick Santorum and pretty much the whole extreme pro-life universe in a Funny or Die video. She and her sisters in comedy have a special message just for Rick: He has to wait 72 hours before terminating his candidacy.

Take Rick Santorum's announcement that he's suspending terminating his presidential campaign and plunk it into an abortion clinic and -- oooh, a dozen or so hilarious/squirmy parallels hatch like so many fuzzy, provocative little chicks.

Okay, depending on where you are on the whole pro-choice/pro-life debate, this is either the funniest thing ever or the kind of video that confirms your suspicion that we are all just one more wicked joke away from The End of Days.

I think it's only fair to invite Rick Santorum to share some of the shame he wants to inflict on, well, pretty much every woman out there who wants full control over our reproductive lives.

More from The Stir: Rick Santorum's Beliefs About Women Should Terrify You

Some of my favorite moments: Scary doom-and-gloom music, candidacy ultrasound, "the law requires me to tell you that as early as six weeks a candidacy can have living, breathing supporters," and that amazing pamphlet Ashley's holding there. It kind of flashes by quickly but it reads, "Planned Politics Guide to Never Running for President Again." ELL OH ELL -- I love it.

The ladies all play it straight for laughs except for one moment when Ashley looks sincerely pissed: "I mean, you're a grown man running for president! And I'm just a woman who's never worked in politics and couldn't possibly understand what you're going through." Yeah, I wonder how she feels about male politicians inserting themselves into the whole birth control/choice debate?

Do you think the abortion clinic/presidential campaign comparison is funny or inappropriate?

Zygote, embryo, fetus... whatever you want to call it, it has the potential to be a baby, but that's not the same. No one is proud of abortion, but it should be rare, safe, and legal for those who want it. The video, while somewhat crass, is a direct response to Rick Santorum and his desire to drag women back into the early 1900's. I'm glad he's gone, and I wish him and his family well.

dosen't this  woman even realize that a sick child and committing murder are two different. I mean think about it he quit because of his sick child. Abortion is murder. Plus she don't speak for all women abortion IS MURDER

Ari. Ari.

That was awesome. I loved it and have always loved Ashley Judd.

Seems to me that Ashley Judd has probably had more than one abortion.

Imagine if men were subjected to female politicians taking away their rights to make their own health decisions (as an example, screenings for prostate cancer would be limited, since the tests have recently become controversial) - there would be plenty of videos and commentary mocking that, just as Ashley Judd made a video to show how absurd and horrific what Rick Santorum was advocating.

To other commenters - I will always fight back any time cruel statements are made that abortion is merely "murder" when cancer patients choose to save their own lives, but must terminate their pregnancies, or when women with ectopic pregnancies choose to save their lives, but again must end their pregnancies. Do not ever judge rape victims who do not want to continue with unwanted pregnancies at a risk to their own health (you do know that pregnancy and giving birth have health risks, right?) You would never condemn relatives who take a family member off life support as "murderers." Life is complex, choices are difficult and painful, and you should not belittle women you do not know for making decisions that are best for them. Women need to stick up for other women, and fight to protect their rights to make their own choices for what is best for their own health.

JUST ONE MORE REASON TO CALL ASHLEY JUDD A Gu=ODDESS! She is right on the money here. I wish everyone would just shut up about abortion. Don't like them? Don' t have one. Simply as that. It is really none of anyone else's GODDAMN business if a woman decided to have one.

I am happy to find your eminent way of writing the article. Now you make it easy for me to understand and implement the concept. Thank you for the article.

Loved it. Perhaps putting it into those terms will show how ridiculous it is for male politicians to be telling women what to do with our bodies. Rock on ladies! :)

Just throwing this out there...but it technically, in scientific is a zygote. No quotations; it's a real term. Sooo...I guess you can blame science for "depersonalizing" it...
