The new health care law is on everyone's minds right now and any time I write about it, you all have plenty to say!
We've worked hard here to explain the basics of the new law and to show you what both sides think of it. But I've noticed that there's a lot of misinformation out there about the law, coming both from those who support it and from those who oppose it.
To help separate fact from fiction, Stephanie Cutter, the deputy campaign manager for Obama for America, has agreed to take your questions on the new health care law.
Got a question for her? Leave it in the comments!
Need help thinking of questions? Here are a few questions and concerns CafeMom members already have brought up:
Who do you pay the penalty to if you don't have healthcare by the due date?
It is UNTRUE that you can keep your insurance if you like it. Employers are going to dump people out of their coverage and move them to the government plan.
... the consequences of this new plan would far outweigh the few who would benefit, not to mention the major shortage of doctors we'd have.
This law clearly states that the elderly will be forced into end of life treatment. If you are poor you will go to jail yes it's true. You will be fined for not BUYING insurance if you can not afford that fine you WILL go to jail.
More from The Stir: What You Need to Know About the New Health Care Law
These obviously are major concerns and I know they're on many of your minds right now, so let's get you some answers! Leave your questions in the comments of this post and we'll submit questions to Stephanie Cutter at the end of the week. Next week, we'll bring you her responses.
While we welcome questions from all commenters, I do ask that you frame them in a polite and respectful manner.
So ... who's got a question about the new health care law?

Mmmmmmkay. I am SURE she will be totally unbiased and informative... errrrrr. If you are an Obama supporter. FAIL April. I guess it is too much to find a second person NOT running part of Obama's campaign to answer questions also???
my Bad. Lindsay not April ;-)
I DO have a question for her... MANY people are under the impression that because of this new law they will have insurance coverage and have everything they need in the way of medical care where they did not before because they can no longer be denied coverage. However, while they may be "technically covered" on paper, and cannot be denied a policy, they do not understand that they can still be denied care or tests procedures and treatment, if the people in charge deem them an unfit financial risk How do you respond to that, and the astronomical cost of this law we now see? Thank you.

@Destiny - as I'm sure the Repubs are oh so very unbiased and informative in the information that they feed their flock.
Ohhh, this is great! I have a few questions:
I understand that US citizens will be required to purchase health insurance. What about the "undocumented citizens", of which there are currently 11 million in this country? They will not be required to purchase insurance, but won't be denied for services, correct? How is this addressed in the Affordable Healthcare Act?
Second question: if you don't purchase health insurance and you pay the fine, does that fine pay for you to have health insurance? In other words, if you pay the fine, are you insured?
Thanks for the opportunity to ask questions!
Why will we have to pay a fine if we don't have health insurance?
What will happen to those who don't pay?
Will they go to jail, and if so for how long?
And who exactly made up this new Health Care Law, and why?
I have Medicare/Medicaid in California had for 10 years and all my PCP at my county medical center that I signed up with would not refer me to a single specialist to find the cause of why I was so ill and getting progressively getting sicker. I had to investigate my symptoms on the internet and then demand a particular test of which it discovered from an outside test facility I was quite ill but even then my PCP would not refer me for treatment. How do I complain and to who do I complain regarding mal-practice for failure to provide care for several years? I have not met a single doctor who cared if you became well or not. Who is responsible for my substandard non care? They also will not make an appointment for you.
Kerry Pay 925-229-3830 call after 6 p.m. because my illness causes massive headaches and it also will not allow me to sleep except 90 minutes.
