Gas Prices Rise During Report on Gas Prices Rising (VIDEO)

by Lindsay Mannering on February 23, 2012 at 1:24 PM

gas pricesSo gas prices, huh? Pretty freaking insane. They're getting higher by the second, and there's nothing we can really do to stop it. According to an ABC News report, some people have gotten so frustrated that they're taking their anger out on the gas station attendants, and even trying to run over the price placards before they're raised into place on the tall, street-side signs. It's pandemonium!

I kind of wish I'd been alive in the '70s so I could complain about waiting in line for gas and get all curmudgeonly on the subject -- there's nothing I like more than a game of one-upsmanship when it comes to discomforts suffered -- but I guess I have to leave that stuff up to the older generation. Lucky ducks.

But the reality is that in the 2050s, I might get a chance to tell the younger folks just how bad we had it in the 2010s. I mean, when a reporter is filming a segment on gas prices and the price goes up 10 cents while she's talking, you know you got a problem.

It happened to Cecilia Vega who was at a Los Angeles gas station. When she started her two-minute segment on gas prices, it was $4.99 for a gallon of regular. When she ended her two-minute segment, it was $5.09. She couldn't believe it. We couldn't believe it. Diane Sawyer couldn't believe it. Everyone was stunned.

But what can we do? Sure we can vote a different way and maybe see some change months from now, but for the time being, looks like all we can do is avoid the coups at the pump and try not to fling a steady torrent of obscenities of all kinds as you drive by the gas stations. The kids. They could be listening.

Watch the surprise on Vega's face as the price increases as she's talking:

Many factors contribute to the spike, but obama can take steps, especially to ameliorate certain conditions so the same thing doesn't keep recurring.  I think he wants gas prices up; he has stated as much.

When gas prices hit $4 a gallon in 2008, candidate Barack Obama said it was due to previous failed energy policies. Now that prices are heading still higher, President Obama calls it progress.

He's done everything he can to limit production — slow-walking offshore permits, killing the Keystone XL pipeline, making it even harder to get oil out of federal lands.

Instead of aggressively expanding oil production, he offered a set of ridiculous alternatives — hugely wasteful "green" energy subsidies, a call for a million electric cars by 2014 and costly fuel economy mandates that won't make a dent in consumption for decades.

With gas prices up 93% since Obama took office, we're seeing just how well this approach works.

10 years ago, the Left was saying, "If we started drilling in ANWR today, we wouldn't have oil until 10 years from now.

    Uh huh.

The truth is that for obama, low gas prices are the problem, since they would hamper progress toward his "green" Nirvana, where we all hop on government trains and putter around in government-approved electric cars.

Campaign 2008: obama admitted he didn't have a problem with sky-high gasoline prices, he just "would have preferred a gradual adjustment."

His choice for energy secretary, Steven Chu, certainly doesn't mind them. Before joining the administration he said that "somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe."

Oh shut up Texas momma you are so obnoxious with you're "blame Obama for everything" bs. What so NOW you want him to intervene with your precious "Free Market" now that it effects YOU PERSONALLY. You don't agree with the auto bailout because someone elses job and livelihood were saved because you don't agree with free market intervention. But now that it costs YOU more at the pump you wine about how he's not doing enough.

And people like me who bought an electric car (and got the awesome tax break) are laughing at you. Trade your gas guzzling insufficient 4x4 in and THEN you can start to complain. Until then you are part of the problem.

And vanessa, on what charges?? Don't just spew hateful rhetoric because you heard some big words on fox news. Obama hasn't done anything unlawful, even though you may not agree with his policies.

    Autumnleaves:

"Don't just spew hateful rhetoric" along with "Oh shut up Texas momma you are so obnoxious"

ROFL!  Autumn, you may be forcing my hand.  You are being decidedly uncivil (shocking lack of manners, too -- tsk!) even though your president told you in no uncertain terms (I think he was wagging his finger, as well) that "the rhetoric is too heated" and we need a "new era of civility".  This was echoed by a long, long line of santimonious Democrats, ad nauseum.

Therefore, since you are not following obama's orders, it is logical to assume that you do not agree with him.   So, I might have to report you to #SnitchCental, obama's super spy website.  This website, AttackWatch!,   http://www.attackwatch.com/  was set up by the obama campaign so people could report on others who don't agree with his policies.

Or you could just denounce yourself and report yourself.  Follow the link.  lol!

Oh, and what's obama's "plan" to address these rising prices?

Vanessa has no grounds and I'm sure has no clear definition of the word "impeach"... Which is why I said she shouldn't spew her hateful rhetoric.....

I, however, am clearly and utterly too much aware of your tendenancy to blame Obama repeatedly for ridiculous issues and you have continued to bash MY president with hateful (and completely untrue) words and I'm tired of it. So I am making an educated and obvious remark to you: stop it.

I'm actually ashamed that I'm even acknowledging this tin foil hat lady. I should just feel sorry for her.
