President Obama, Democrats & the Real 'War On Women'

Politics & Views 133

The hip new thing in Democrat circles these days seems to be demagoguing women; spewing nonsense such as claiming that the GOP has a "war on women." It appears everywhere, from For The Women sites to former Speaker Pelosi. Man, I love saying 'former Speaker Pelosi' -- I'm sure that means I'm waging a war on women, too. Speaker Pelosi went so far as to say that this "war" means that Republicans are "voting to say that women can die on the floor." No, really. She said that. With a straight face! Although, I guess that's the only kind of face she's capable of making.

The reasoning? Because, abortion. You see, to the Left the nebulous "women's rights" is somehow distinct from, you know, individual rights. We super scary women are to remain separate from everyone else. Never mind that every policy that President Obama and his administration has put into place is harmful to all, including women.

Staggering unemployment, a stagnant economy, global threats, fiscal irresponsibility worse than a college student on a binge with daddy's credit card? Whatevs! That stuff is for boys. Republicans hate dames! Except they don't. It's the Left who uses women for their own end. For the Women, my strappy sandal-clad foot! The Left reduces women to the sum of their girly bits only. We aren't to care about fiscal matters (math is hard) nor foreign policy (unless shopping at Chanel). We are only to care about things like 'reproductive rights' as if our rights are somehow separate from a man's and are based solely on a legal ability to kill our unborn children.

Of course, President Obama does think that we are somehow lesser than men. When Iran (IRAN) was pegged for a spot on the United Nation's Commission on the Status of women, his own State Department said that they 'wouldn't stand up and cheer' but it's 'less onerous than the Human Rights Commission.' Hey, at least it's not humans, just pesky old women, am I right, fellas? Vice President Joe Biden said he wouldn't 'second-guess' China's one child policy. It's just millions of females being slaughtered, who are we to judge?!

President Obama, like all his fellow travelers, merely uses women for political gain. From perpetuating the myth of the 'wage gap' to insisting that abortion is a sacred right and women will be kept barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen without it, they are striving to keep women as victims. Victims can be controlled, you see. Victims are dependent.; in this case on The State. Victims are powerless. Gone are the days of charity and feelings of gratitude when one needs and receives help in a time of need. Now, we are to feel entitled. Because, victims.

President Obama also believes that women are not equal to men. He made that quite clear in the statement he issued on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. He said "... And as we remember this historic anniversary, we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams."

How dare he. My daughter's dreams are not predicated on the slaughter of over 50 million unborn children. She is not "empowered" by that. Where is the "equality" if a woman must "choose" to kill her own child so that she can have the same opportunities as a man? How is it empowering women to declare motherhood a burden and a child a punishment?

Years ago, an actual feminist Elizabeth Cady Stanton said, "When we consider that women are treated as property, it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit." Huh. You've come a long way, baby!

Any of the Republican candidates, even my last choices, are better for everyone, including women, than Barack Obama. Respect for women and life, individual liberty and true freedom? Now THAT is empowering.

citygirlk - Actually, the presidential personhood pledge that most of the republican candidates signed does have stipulations for cases where the mother's life is in danger. It says something along the lines of saving the mother's life is priority but they should also do everything in their power to save the baby so if the baby dies it's a tragic unintended outcome rather than an intentional killing. So, ectopic pregnancies would still be taken care of according to that. That's just that specific pledge though. I'm sure the wording in all these various personhood amendments vary.

Reading this post just made me vomit in my mouth. I wonder what you would say if you had a mentally disabled older sister (just in case you don't understand, that means she is mentally retarded) who over 30 years ago was raped in her group home.  She has the IQ of an 8 year old child.  She did get pregnant.  My parents had FIGHT to get her an abortion.  Then they had to fight to make sure she was on birth control.  Not only is my sister mentally disabled but she also is emotionally disturbed.  Which means if she is not on her medication she is prone to violent outbursts. Now, just sit back and think about if she had a baby.  I know, I know think is a difficult concept for people like you.   You would want her to go through a pregnancy?  You you would want her to go through labor and delivery?  When someone asked her, do you want a baby?  She said yes and when it cried she would  put it in the closet.  On another note, have you ever seen new born babies that are addicted to drugs because of their scumbag mothers?  Have you seen what they develop into? Are you willing to come here and spend a week with us so I can take a break from the two little ones we adopted because their disgusting mothers decided it was more important to get high than to go on birth control or better yet EAT while they were pregnant?  People like you scare me more than these loser mothers.

I'm very curious how a woman's ability to decide when and how many children she has keeps her a victim. I can make those decisions for my self thank you. If you think that makes you a victim, I'd rather that the conservative view which is woman are patsies who are too stupid to know what is best for them and need paternalistic laws to keep them from making their own choices. Kind of the opposite of the freedom and individual rights rhetoric being flung around. Birth control is important, and yes there are Republicans who wish to limit its access. It is also on of the unintended consequences of the personhood amendments. They say they wont go after b/c, but if one person decides to go ofter it, they have to outlaw it, if the law stands, in OK b/c is not excepted in the legislation. You can also find quite a few conservatives and websites who want to eliminate several forms of b/c.

Wow, this is just sad. I'm not even a citizen of the U.S and I pity all the people living there because of the republicans and people like Lori.
I mean have you thought about the things that you wrote down AND published ?
This is so incredibly ignorant, do you know anything about China and the one-child-policy ?
Have you thought about why it's called PRO-CHOICE and not PRO-ABORTION.
Oh well...

Stacey. Stacey.

Please tell me who said your daughter has to kill her unborn child to have the same opportunities as a man?

You are missing the point completely. Its not about motherhood being a burden. its about having the RIGHT to say what you will or wont do with your own body! I am pro choice and i would never have an abortion, but I should have the right to decide.

Why do conservatives refuse to take things for what they are? I mean, if someone says a woman should have a right to choose, how do you turn that around to someone saying motherhood is a burden and your daughter can only be empowered if she has an abortion? Do you have comprehension skills?

Also, if Chinese are killing girls left and right its not because of the one child policy, its because historically men are more highly regarded than women.

Hoticedcoffee,

Yes, they are trying to take away birth control through the personhood amendments.   And if I had more children then I have now, I would not have been able to afford to leave.   As it is, we will just be getting by.  If I had another daycare bill, it would not be possible.

The personhood ammendment doesn't take away birth control, no matter how many times you say it does.  If the personhood ammendment passed in any state, it wouldn't prohibit the sale or use of birth control.  But thank you for your response.

Stacey. Stacey.

I have a question, because I am not too familiar with the personhood amendment. If a woman finds out she is pregnant and doesnt want a baby there are many thinkgs she can do to harm the fetus from drugs, to not eating, to harming herself.

1. if a woman falls down stairs and the fetus dies, will she have to prove it was an accident?

2. if she takes drugs and the fetus dies would she have to prove she didnt know she was pregnant?

3. if a woman is raped or thru incest becomes pregnant would she have to prove it or will the gov't just believe her? Will the gov't even abort fetuses of rape?
