LOLZ Mr. Friess!Did you catch this little gem this week? Andrea Mitchell interviewed Rick Santorum Super PAC financial backer, billionaire Foster Friess on the ongoing debate over federally mandated birth control coverage. Friess put on his best imitation of an out-of-touch d-bag and said, "My gosh it's so inexpensive. Back in my days they used Bayer aspirin for contraception. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn't that costly." It left Andrea Mitchell breathless.
Today he apologized via his blog -- as well he should! But of course, it's one of those lame non-apologies that goes something along the lines of "I'm sorry if you were stupid and over-sensitive enough to take offense at my remarks. You must be on your period or something." Okay, that's not really what he said. Here is his actual non-apology.
By the way -- apparently he told the tasteless joke at CPAC as well as on national TV. He told this joke TWICE. Zoiks, did anyone actually laugh when he made the joke at CPAC? What the hell is going on with people these days? Anyway, here it is on a silver platter:
After listening to the segment tonight, I can understand how I confused people with the way I worded the joke and their taking offense is very understandable. To all those who took my joke as modern day approach I deeply apologize and seek your forgiveness.
I guess that's as close to apologizing as we're going to get with Friess. But honestly, I think conservatives owe women a big apology for an entire week of insults to women. Por ejemplo:
1. Religious leaders decided to turn a women's health issue into a religious freedom bitchfest, even after Obama made a compromise over who would cover what for birth control.
2. The House panel assembled to hear testimony over this issue was composed of all men. Because we all know having a uterus is just going to skew your judgement, right guys?
3. Committee chairman Darrell Issa would not allow the testimony of Sandra Fluke, the Minority witness. Oh yeah, and she would have also been the only female voice heard at this hearing. Here's her testimony, just in case you think women should maybe have some say in this matter.
Now here's Andrea Mitchell with my reaction to all of this:

AYFKMWTS?!?
So yeah, thank you for your "apology," Friess. And the rest of you? GET IN LINE. The women of this country would like to hear an apology from the assholes who ran this whole circus this week. Happy Valentine's Day indeed.
Classic. Here's 8 other birth control substitutes that work better than aspirin. And one more thing, can we please put a moratorium on using the phrase "in my day?" I thought Dana Carvey put a stop to that years ago with his Angry Old Man routine.
What did you think about Friess' joke? Do you think the birth control panel should have included some women?

I am not apologizing to noone, because this is not a birth control issue. Obama did not make a compromise, because the Catholic Church is still paying for the birth control, which is against their teachings. Obama didnt have voices of dissent when he was deciding to force this legislation upon the Catholic Church. What you dont understand is that women are not being denied birth control??? Why dont you understand that the government has NO right to tell a church how to preach or believe, being directly or indirectly??
I thought it was kinda funny. He was joking, people. Even politicians have a sense of humor. Clearly, he was trying to make light of a serious situation and that fell flat. And I agree w/ @billsfan1104 the government has no right to force the Church to pay for birth control. Maybe drug companies should just- gasp!- stop charging so much.
Lol, that's what I've said to some men, "Are you on your period or something!?" The worst thing you can call a man, is a 'woman.' Sometimes you have to put the insult on the other foot.
And, yes, that was a nonapology. News?
"AYFKMWTS." OK, you lost me after AYFKM...
DebaLa- AYFKMWTS- Are You F'ing Kidding Me With This S**T :)
I thought the joke was pretty damn funny, and I think his apology was about as sincere as the Left's "outrage". And like Bills, this debacle has NOTHING to do with birth control and everything to do with religious freedom, or any freedom, for that matter. The government is, once again, mandating the purchase/provision of a non-essential item.
If you believe a concession has been made for religious employers, and the insurance carriers are going to offer "free" birth control, you are easily duped (which is probably the case, I know). Insurance carriers are going to pass of the cost of the "free" stuff to the employer, who pays the premium. You pay the premium, you pay for the birth control.
Guess you can't explain anything to billsfan or hot iced.
Oh, I know! We just silly little women who don't understand how it's so much better for government leaders to take care of us and make sure we get what we need without any trouble. I mean, that's certainly not demeaning, right? Women need the government's help. After all, where would we get contraception if it's not "free" to us and provided by our employer? I mean, it's not like we can just walk into any Planned Parenthood or free clinic, anywhere in America, and get some. Or take our prescription to any pharmacy and get it filled. I mean, heavens - it's such a good thing! Especially the idea that we cover EVERYONE'S - even the evil 1% richy-rich fat cats - because they need coddling, too - after all, they certainly didn't become successfuly without the government's help, right?
Did I explain it more to your liking, removing the religious angle? I'm betting not. By all means, go ahead and school me. I'd love to hear it.
