These days, there isn’t much women can’t do just as well, if not better, than men. We’re better educated, we make more money, and let’s face it ... we smell better. Ok, that last link leads to a study proving that women have a better sense of smell than men, but really, is anyone going to try to deny that the fairer sex has a fairer scent than our male counterparts?
With the boardroom conquered, chicks are heading to the field to prove their skills as hunters.
Hunting wild game is still a male-dominated pastime, but chick hunters are rising amongst the ranks to prove that they can hunt just as well as gather. Rocky Mountain states like Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming have seen the biggest increase in female hunters in recent years, with girls making up as much as 19.5 percent of residents applying for hunting licenses. "Women are not just stuck in the kitchen these days, and hunting is no longer a gender-specific activity," said Kelton Hatch, conservation educator with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.
Whether it’s the declining economy prompting women to hunt their own dinner, or the wild popularity of shows like Survivor or even Sarah Palin’s Alaska, which feature fearless women doing what it takes to sustain themselves and friends or family in wild environments, there’s no denying that chicks are saying, “I am woman, watch me catch my prey!”
One author and food blogger putting to rest the idea that hunting is a butch sport is Georgia Pellegrini, who routinely posts about living off the land, and has a book coming out soon titled Girl Hunter. Take a look at this classically trained, gorgeous chef, and try to argue that hunting is something only boys should do.
Bravo, ladies! What wonderful examples you are to our daughters that there is no glass ceiling anymore. Men are still lovely creatures to have around, and many of them do wonderful things, but it's empowering to know that we chicks are capable of taking care of ourselves if need be.
Besides, why should boys have all the fun?
Have you ever hunted? Would you? Should we leave it to the boys? What do you think?

I haven't, and probably wouldn't ( I feel like I'm going to pass out from guilt if I accidentally hit a squirrel with my car), but that's not to say that I think women shouldn't hunt - it's just not for me. I do have a few female friends who LOVE to deer hunt, and evidently they're quite good at it. I think it's a great skill to have - from knowing how to use a rifle to processing the kill - definitely good things to know.
I also think its good that more women are getting into hunting.
I went with my dad when i was younger and always had a good time. I couldn't being myself to actually shoot anything but I have no problem eating everything he hunts! I have had deer, goose, duck, and pheasant. I enjoy getting up early and going out into the woods or to the field or lake and enjoying the outdoors and getting some food out of it!
I love hunting, and I do and will continue to hunt. However, I also respect that (much like fishing and golfing) it is often a male past time because it's what they do to get out of the house and have aboys day. That said, I don't think they should have all the fun! My so fish, hunt, and golf together. We also schedule a few times for each he goes just with his buddies (all boys trips) and then in return, I get to do my all girls trips! Honestly, I have a blast on my all girls hunting and fishing days, nothing like hours spent setting in hiding watching deer and searching for the perfect whitetail with a group of gals who appreciate the bueaty of it all! Or hours on a shoreline fishing and gossiping :) Yeah, I won't be stopping anytime soon!
Oh, and we specifically hunt for meat, not trophys, I have a very low actually got something rate (like, two does and a cow elk in like, twelve years of hunting, a few coyotes and one javalina) and the meat saves us big bucks in the grocery department.
i live in la. this isn't a new fad or trend here. its how it is.
I think hunting is disgusting. To me, It's killing for fun. Because people get joy and amusement out of it. Take pictures of it smiling with snarky little glee. There is plenty of meat in the grocery store that didn't HAVE a choice. It was already dead. Yet people go out and kill motherfreaking bambi all for the sake of sport! Makes me vomit. ( Sorry, I've lived in alabama my entire life and have to deal with it alot so my opinion is very strong.)
You are not killing Bambi u are killing Bambi's mother and taste freaking good.
I hunt, I have every since I was a kid (10 or 11) it's always been a great bonding experience with my dad, uncles, and cousins. And I like knowing that my meat is fresh, that's what happens when you grow up on a far. Lol I think more people in general need to get into hunting and other survival skills. I know it sounds crazy and I'm not just talking about zombies but if something does happen that stops mass production of food I like knowing how to farm, hunt, and feed my family on our own.
