Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain has not been having a good couple of weeks. On October 30, Politico reported that he had been hit with two charges of sexual assault during his time as the CEO of the National Restaurant Association (NRA). Both women signed settlements that gave them some money in exchange for their silence.
That doesn’t necessarily mean anything; it just means that a couple of women made some claims, and they got some money to stop making said claims. It happens all the time, and it is not an admission of guilt by the accused. Cutting a check to the finger-pointer in a sexual harassment case is a lot cheaper than trying to prove that someone didn’t say or do something that was offensive to another person.
Most sexual harassment cases are very he said, she said, with little or no proof to verify either person’s story, and believe it or not, not all people have hearts of gold. Some may even try to fabricate a story in order to get some money, or even to hurt another person for whatever reason. Sexual harassment is a real, horrible, demeaning thing, but we cannot assume that everyone accused of it has committed it.
Last week, Herman Cain told us what had happened that made one of the women uncomfortable enough to file a claim. Apparently, they were alone together, and he told her she was his wife’s height, just about up to his chin. He then pointed to his chin. I don’t know about you guys, but I always get so turned on when my husband tells me I come up to his chin!
Amide the media outrage over the supposed sex scandal, a third woman anonymously claimed that Cain had also made untoward advances to her. Again, we have no idea who the woman is, or what it was that made her uncomfortable.
On Monday, attorney Gloria Allred held a press conference with her client, Sharon Bialek, who is the fourth woman to claim harassment against Herman Cain, and the first to do so publicly. She claims that Mr. Cain put his hand on her thigh, and pushed her head toward his crotch. When Bialek said no and asked to be driven to her hotel, Cain stopped and drove her back to her hotel. Where he left her alone.
The whole story seems fishy, and Gloria Allred’s involvement doesn’t exactly instill confidence that anything actually did happen. This chick has become a media sensation by representing women with sensational, unsubstantiated claims of abuse or discrimination.
There’s probably no way to ever know what really happened regarding these women and their involvement with Herman Cain. But until there is conclusive proof, let’s not jump to any conclusions.

I've said this before and I'll say it again - politicians and sex scandals go hand in hand, and unless someone was hurt and not just "uncomfortable", I really don't care. That was my feeling even before Slick Willy Clinton lowered the bar for "presidential" behavior. I think powerful men are very seductive for many women, and low-hanging fruit is pretty tasty to many men. So sex scandals don't influence my opinion, unless there are children or violent crime involved.
Gloria Allred is to womens' rights what PETA is to animal rights, so yeah, having her cart hitched to this case makes me think this is just another opportunity for her to get her face on TV.
I am so tired of this "tried in the press" nonsense. Last time I checked, our code of law says "Innocent until PROVEN guilty", not "some chick says so, but has no solid proof, so you're guilty anyway." It's happening with Cain, it's happening with Justin Bieber, and now it's happening at Penn State. I'm not willing to say that ANY of these men are guilty of anything except being rich, powerful, and vulnerable to attack. The fact is, in each situation, no solid evidence has come to light, and yet in each case, the press is making it incumbant upon the accused to prove his innocence! It is absolutely insane.
Back to Cain, yeah, with Allred involved? The whole thing had no credibility to begin with, and now it's a circus sideshow, wiht Allred as the ringmaster.
Where there's smoke, there's fire. But this is all stupid either way.
This woman is awefully fishy to me....I would like to see the video of her hugging Cain. I mean, why would someone who was supposedly sexually harrassed, later go up to that person and hug them? I just don't see that as likely. This woman has filed for bankrupcy 2x and has been sued on a paternity suit (don't know the ins and outs of that one!?!?!?)...when asked if she would say that she would NOT be taking money for interviews or a book deal, she skirted the question and pretty much said, well, I'll have to think about it when I get to it. Yeah, right....she's money hungry. He didn't do anything to her, just like he probably didn't do anything to the other women who have as yet, refused to come out of hiding.
I don't know about a video, ladies, but there is a photo. It appears with a column written by Sun Times Columnist Michael Sneed (a female, btw). Also unconfirmed is that this woman lived (or lives) in the same building as David Axelrod. It could be pure coincidence, but history has shown that where Obama Operatives lurk, so do lies and fraud. But is it also a coincidence that one of the other "anonymous" women works for the Obama Administration. We have had "anonymous" accusers come forward, corroborated by "anonymous" friends. Another woman accuses Cain of awful things, but did nothing at the time that it happened, even though the boyfriend that she told, allegedly KNEW Cain. And he did nothing, either.o
This whole thing smells, and is getting stinkier by the day. It is making the Press look bad, these women look bad, and all the sycophants who are yelling that Cain is guilty look bad. The one thing that it is NOT doing, is making Cain look bad. I can't blame the guy for being angry, and I can't blame him for not saying much at all. How can you defend yourself against accusers who refuse to provide proof?
