Casey Anthony Makes Barbara Walters Go Too Far

by Jeanne Sager on October 17, 2011 at 12:15 PM

Barbara WaltersI hate to say it, but I'm starting to think Casey Anthony should just come out of hiding and do an interview already. Hearing her tired excuses regarding her behavior after daughter Caylee's death could be the only way to keep mainstream journalists from digging themselves into holes so deep there's no climbing out. Barbara Walters, I'm talking about you.

The talk show host was spotted with Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, over the weekend, in an obvious ploy to get in good for a tete a tete with Casey. Which wouldn't be such a big deal if they'd stuck to an office building with a team of other lawyers in tow. But the sleazy details of their meeting make the allegations earlier this month that network producers babysat for Amanda Knox's half sisters (so far just rumors) to get an interview sound almost quaint.

At least that would have been a real service to the family. But TMZ has video of Walters with actor Frank Langella in tow on an apparent double date with Baez and his wife at New York's famous Orso Restaurant. Baez was in town for a special sit-down with Walters that will air on ABC about Anthony's verdict.

But something tells me that Nightline can be shot in a TV studio. Walters and her subject don't need to go for Italian with an actor. And while the site jokes that Walters brushed off the Florida attorney's attempt at a hug because she didn't want their photogs to get the "money shot," you can almost smell the desperation in the video. She wants this guy to give her the interview to end all interviews; she's just not sure she wants to actually touch him to make it happen.

Baez is not a natural for hanging out with celebrities. He's the South Florida lawyer who just barely passed the bar and had been practicing law for three years when he landed the job repping the most hated mom in America. Before that, he'd been a bikini salesman, a deadbeat dad, and a high school dropout.

Now imagine what it's like for a guy like that to have dinner out at a famous restaurant with a movie star. Without Casey, Baez would have no entree into that world, and his wife has none without him. That's what puts Walters' actions in question. It crosses the line from natural means to get an interview -- a la a sit-down in an office -- to "doing whatever it takes" to get Casey's butt in the hot seat. She's wowing this guy, big time.

And frankly, this looks just as bad for Baez as it does for Walters. If he's supposed to have his client's best interests at heart, he shouldn't be getting nicey nice with the very person who wants to grill her in front of a TV audience.

Do you think Walters crossed the line or do you think she takes all her interviewees out for a good meal with Hollywood's elite?

I think it's pathetic what people will do for ratings, money and fame. I really expected better of Walters. I know that if/when Anthony decides to do an interview that I will not be the only one that not only doesn't watch it but that also boycotts the station and companies whose products are advertised on said station...PLEASE QUIT putting Anthony and her lawyer back in the spotlight!

Barbara Walter's credibility has been going downhill for a while, her seen with Jose Bozo trying to score it big to get an interview with CONVICTED FELON, SKANK, PATHOLOGICAL LIAR, BABY KILLER, CASEY ANTHONY, she has now sunk to a new low. I will boycott the interview with this POS excuse for a human being, no doubt about it. Just for anyone who doesn't know, there has been a petition started to get this Momster tried in a federal court. I signed it and for those who worry that your name would be out there for the VINDICTIVE BITCH to get revenge someway or another, the signature is just your 1st name and last initial of your last name. Here is the link https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions#!/petition/try-casey-anthony-federal-court-lying-fbi-investigators/KCkZwXSD. There are 4,866 signatures, with 134 left to go by Oct 22, in order for the White House to review it. We are almost there. Let's get some justice for Caylee, the poor little girl who had the great misfortune to be born into the dysfunctional, pathological lying Anthony family and to have a POS mother like Casey. Remember everyone, BOYCOTT ANYTHING ANTHONY. Includes, her parents SINdy and Georgette, and laughing boy Lee, plus her scuzzy DUH-fense team. Don't let them cash in on Caylee's murder. Don't let CONVICTED FELON, SKANK, PATHOLOGICAL LIAR, BABY KILLER CASEY ANTHONY get away profiting from murdering her daughter!

Won't watch any interview with Casey Anthony. No shock that Walters wants to score it. Baez is such a dweeb. However, that blonde is Linda Baden...married to a forensic scientist, who undoubtedly helped Baez with the trial. He does not strike me as even remotely intelligent.

The evidence on the case leaves it all up to the viewers imagination. I think the child drowned and Casey was holding on to her child because she loved her and did not want to get in trouble at the same time. With her lying nature, its not hard to imagine that or even that she killed her. I give Casey the benifit of the doubt. So with that said, good for Baez, and I hope Casey gets millions for people wanting her blood and head mounted on their wall. Plus she needs to pay back florida somehow.

Hey Razzy, Casey is not a convicted felon. She got four misdemeanors. What trial were you watching?

No one should pay casey anthony or jose baez. Neither should profit from this tragedy. Baez should be disbarred

Basically, they all just suck. Who the HELL cares about anything CA would have to say. Isn't journalism the search for the truth. Forget it, won't happen. CA is not going to ever admit she offed, taped and bagged her daugher then threw her away. Barbie...get a clue, ratings aren't everything. Have some self-respect.

Ally, Casey was previously convicted of fraud involving her friend Amy's checkbook, which was indeed a felony. Remember her "crying" in court in front of Judge Stan Strickland that she was sorry & wished she'd been a better friend as she pled GUILTY?
