If you go out walking in the woods and get attacked by a bear, that's one thing, but when you get attacked by a bear in your own living room, well, that's just all sorts of freaky. But that's just what happened to a Pennsylvania couple who found a bear in their home early Monday morning.
According to a story on CBS, around 3 a.m., Rich Moyer heard his dog barking outside. He went to let him in, and a big old bear came in too. Can you imagine? Things got ugly quickly.
Before he knew what was happening, the bear knocked him to the ground. Trying to save his dog, he started wrestling with the bear. At some point, his wife, Angela, came downstairs, and saw the gruesome goings on in her own living room, and the bear knocked her onto the patio. Her husband then came to her rescue. He told the station:
After that I go outside to see what happened and I see the bear on top of her on the patio. And I literally dove in to take that bear off of her, and in doing that then, that's when the bear tried to make a meal out of me, and started tearing my head apart.
Talk about a living nightmare. Then suddenly -- for no apparent reason -- the bear decided to stop and walked on back into the woods. Rich ended up needing 37 staples and 37 stitches to put his head back together, and his face and arms suffered various scratches and puncture wounds. Definitely not as bad as it could have been, and he acknowledges that if he were a smaller man (he's 6' 6" and 300 pounds), he likely wouldn't be here. In another stroke of good fortune, the couple's 10-year-old son remained asleep upstairs throughout the whole ordeal.
So while I don't know how they're ever going to be able to look at their living room as the same relaxing place it once was again, it certainly could have been worse. And how many people can say they wrestled a bear in their own living room?
Have you ever come face-to-face with a frightening animal in your own home?

holy cannoli!! that scares the ever loving crap out of me... bears are freaking big and can be vicious.. and yes, they are absolutely lucky for themselves and their son as well!
the worst i've had is snakes. MAN I FREAKING HATE SNAKES MORE THAN ANYTHING. and i've walked up to the porch at my granparents' house (when i was a kid) to find a 5 1/2 foot long black king snake curled up at the door. except i didn't see it, and stepped over it to go in the house. it wasn't until i heard the hiss that i looked back and about wet my pants - that thing was HUGE! another time, my dad & i were walking through the orchard and another black king snake (this time nearly 6 ft long) FELL OUT OF THE TREE IN FRONT OF MY DAD. it freaked me out so bad... oh man, i already hated snakes but stuff like that? yeah, i can't even see pictures of them now. GAH!
Thank God they survived!
Well you know we moved in on them not the other way around. So if your not willing to deal with nature live in the city. Animals are less likely to come into a city house than a country one. Oh yea lets save more lives so we can invade more areas where animals live so they can attack more people. I believe in saving peoples lives so they can live but lets stop keeping people alive forever.
They are lucky to be alive, I'm surprised that the bear came in though. Usually creatures like that tend to avoid man, I wonder if they was cooking outside or if food was left out.
The bears like playing on our front porch. I'm not surprised they came in. They've done it in houses up here before. If they smell food, watch out- they want that food!!!!!!!
This may be a weird thought, but I wonder if the dog and wife is okay.
Well When I lived in the woods near the ocean I would have to go do my laundry in the garage. Well after leaving the laundry basket out there for a few minutes(back side of the garage was open because the was a large redwood tree there) When I was loading the washer the was a black big scorpion at the bottom and it scared the sh** out me! Since I was putting my hands in there!! Also there was a one time in our home there was a brown recluse right on the ceiling above our bed!! AAAH!! Thank God I live in the city now!!
Just bats. I hate bats. -.-
This attack happened down the street from my MIL. The same bears raided her bird feeders a few weeks back!
