On Labor Day, James Hoffa told a pro-union crowd in Michigan to take those Tea Party ‘son of a bitches’ out. He told President Obama, who spoke just after the Teamsters president, that the unions were his army, and they were ready to fight for America.
Apparently the longshoremen (dock workers – yes, I had to look it up) of Washington State were confused as they directed their siege at another union, rather than the ‘violent’ Tea Party. Hundreds of members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union stormed the port of Longview on Thursday morning, holding six guards hostage, breaking windows, cutting brake lines, and dumping the grain at the center of the dispute.
The union was protesting over the port hiring another union to work there, when they believed that to be their exclusive right. Because, you know, what better way to prove that you’re the best person for a job than to terrorize people and vandalize the facility in which you wish to work?
The union thugs threatened the sergeants called to the scene with baseball bats, claiming that this was just the beginning. A temporary restraining order had been issued several days prior, in anticipation of such an attack.
The 500 or more longshoremen that violently attacked the Longview port on Thursday, holding guards hostage, openly threatening the police, vandalizing valuable property, and generally making a mockery of protesting for workers’ rights returned to work on Friday.
Say what? Why aren’t these people in prison?
If they can get away with destroying private property, it violates one of the most basic tenants of American life. The right to own property is one of the things that makes America uniquely America. People work hard to be able to own something, whether it’s land, a fancy car, or fantastic shoes … if there’s no right to own property, then what’s the point of working?
Why build up a business if the government isn’t going to provide protection for the owner? With all the things government is trying to take over these days, it would be nice if they actually focused on something they’re supposed to do: Law enforcement.

Just because I believe in a smaller government & lowering our deficits and debt, I am labled as a "barbarian at the gate" by our Vice President. I am labled as a racist, terrorist and son of a bitch. Apparently a war has been declared against select US citizens, like me, on behalf of President Obama & Unions.
And apparently, I'm a dumb ass shill for corporations, even though Immelt is Obama's job czar whose company didn't pay any taxes, got multi-millions of stimulus money, and just shipped a sh!t load of jobs to China.
And as Jenny reports, the real criminals and domestic terrorists get off free, from the law and from what is supposed to be honest reporting. God help us.
I wonder just how much more proof union sympathizers need before they admit, unions do more harm than good. Unions are dangerous. Union members, if not thugs in their natural state, easily convert to thugs when they collect to protest perceived slights, and mob mentality takes over. Unions have outlived their functionality, and should be abolished nation-wide. I would love to see every state follow in the steps of Wisconsin, for EVERY union.
I agree with hoticedcoffee. Unions can do some good for their memebers but seem to exist solely for the administrators. I know from education that the teacher's union has really messed up education. The postal workers union has it so that a postal worker cannot be fired for poor performance. From what I have seen in my area many blue collar union workers are very slow to get their job done and don't care if it is done correctly. The general attitude, no matter what union, is make the union bosses money and who cares you can't fire me.
Well, Joe, why don't you enlighten us? What 'bit of background' would make their behavior bettter?
Oh, and look up the word "anonymous" - I'm pretty sure you don't have the slightest bit of background on the meaning of that word...unless you have some equally interesting "background" on how her name and picture right on the page makes her a mystery.
Let me guess - you're able to match wits with any longshoreman you come across, right?
