You may not like abortion, but would you murder someone over it? Nattalie Muir, a 21-year-old teacher, was brutally beaten then stabbed to death by her 15-year-old former lover, who also happened to be her student. The boy (whose name hasn't been released because of legal reasons) and his two friends, George Stewart and Emma Merrilees, went out hunting for Nattalie in a drug- and alcohol-induced state, armed with a spade, an axe, and a six-inch knife.
They found her walking on the side of the road with her boyfriend, Thomas Thyne. They chased Thyne off and proceeded to murder Nattalie. Her last word was "Paige," her 3-year-old daughter.
Apparently, the 15-year-old boy had sworn revenge on Nattalie after she decided to terminate her pregnancy by him. He harassed her with phone calls and even told her boyfriend he was "coming to get him." He received six years in jail for his heinous crime, while Stewart, 34, received eight, and Merrilees, 20, received life for stabbing Muir to death.
Obviously, this boy was not of a sound mental state, but it seems kind of ironic that he took another person's life over an abortion. I mean, isn't that the whole thing with pro-lifers? They feel that those who have had abortions "took another's life"?
And why did this kid want Muir to keep the baby so badly anyway? Did he see himself fit to be the father of a child? Since when do 15-year-old boys even want to be fathers? There clearly were other motivating factors than "his unborn child" that led him to commit this crime. Like the fact that he's completely and totally mentally insane.
It really is a shame that all he got was six years. I get that he's a minor, but it seems like an awfully short time for beating someone, murdering them, and leaving a 3-year-old without her mother. He should have gotten life.
What do you think should happen to this 15-year-old boy?

This is so tragic on so many levels.
disgusting
Wow! First of all, he isn't a former lover. She raped a child!! This child has a TON of issues. Being abused and raped by a teacher, and then the anger that would give him a reason to turn around and murder the woman. It is tragic. So sad.
And yet it NEVER would have happened if she had never been a predator and gone after a child.
I think this has little to do with abortion and much to do with the fact that he is a child put in an adult situation that he couldn't handle. I'm not sure what I'm more disgusted about in this story - the teacher/student thing, or the apparent disregard for his feelings regarding killing his child, or the fact this kid's life is ruined and she's dead over something that never should have happened in the first place.
There is so much wrong with this situation I don't even know where to start. And this isn't even about pro-life vs. pro-choice - though the irony was not lost on me (nor is it when pro-lifers bomb clinics and kill doctors). So - this woman had sex with a teenager...then she aborted his baby and for some weird reason felt like a 15 year old boy needed to know about that decison...then he turns around and kills her - while on drugs??? And THEN he only gets 6 years for it???
Yup. I'm just going to be baffled. Not even going to try to make sense out of this.
wow. this story reeks of tragedy and sickness. it's absolutely terrible that there's a 3 year old little girl out there who lost her mother. but her mother also raped and abused an underage boy, possibly by blurring the professional lines at school (i'd hate to assume, BUT...)
it's an all out tragedy, and who's to say that he didn't react the way he did because of a traumatic love affair with her? then again, maybe he was an obsessed student and they didn't date... (did anyone read the story in september's glamour about teachers who were falsely accused of sexual relationships with students? heartbreaking.) we don't know, but it's senseless and tragic regardless.
The article doesn't mention anything about her being a teacher or him being her former student. Which make sense, as to teach at a high school leve, one would usually need a master's degree. Unless she graduated high school at 15, she'd still be a student herself. And ACTUALLLY, if you were to do some research, there was nothing illegal about their relationship at all. West Lothian is in Scotland, where the age of consent for boys until December 2010 was 14. The woman and the boy had a relationship for four months that ended in October 2010. Nothing illegal there. And since he willingly went into this relationship without coersion, I hardly see any case for sexual abuse. Is it creepy? Totally. Illegal? No.
And yes the boy is getting in trouble because he maliciously beat and murdered a woman along with friends of his. On top of that, he was drinking, which is a crime in Scotland, as the legal drinking age is 16 to consume, 18 to buy. Jeez. Do some research before getting all outraged, people.
