Autopsy of 11-Year-Old Celina Cass Has Sad Results

by Jacqueline Burt on August 3, 2011 at 12:06 PM

celina cassMy heart breaks for the family of Celina Cass, the 11-year-old Stewartstown, New Hampshire girl whose body was found in the Connecticut River on Monday. Not only did they lose their daughter suddenly and tragically, they have no idea why or how it happened. Initial autopsy results, it was reported today, were inconclusive, though Assistant Attorney General Jane Young said the death was "suspicious" because of the condition of the body (she wouldn't go into specifics).

So far, nothing seems to add up: The last time Celina was seen, around 9 p.m. on July 25, she was in her bedroom on the computer. Then she just ... vanished.

As a mom, it's the hollow mystery surrounding Celina's death that gives me chills.

There's nothing worse, as a parent, than feeling helpless, and stories like this one prove how powerless we truly are -- Celina was known as a good, quiet girl; only 960 people lived in Stewartstown, an area considered to be so safe that residents often leave their doors unlocked at night. This wasn't supposed to happen.

The fact that the autopsy was inconclusive makes the whole thing even more horrifying. Apparently examiners are now waiting on toxicology reports ... what can that mean? That Celina was drugged before she was killed? Because she was on her computer the last time anyone saw her, there has been some speculation that maybe Celina went to meet someone from the Internet. Maybe she was the victim of yet another cyber-predator? Being forced to imagine the possibilities ... I can't even think about what Celina's family is going through right now without feeling sick.

I know that this poor little girl is gone, and nothing can bring her back. But I pray that they find the person who did this to her quickly, before another child is lost.

What do you think happened to Celina Cass?

I think the sleazy step-dad did it.  He just seems very weird, and he lived in the house and all.  His past is very questionable.  Occam's razor and all that.

I feel that from what I've read so far, the stepfather has had something to do with her death. I also thought this artical was going to give us more information on how she died. I feel so sorry for her & her family. I hope they get The person responsible for her death real quick.

I think two things: either the girl was meeting somebody via computer, or he was watching her through her window. Are there footprints outside her window, was her window on the lower level where she often sneaked outside to meet somebody. Did somebody see her sneaking out often and perhaps it was this person who got her before she could meet her regular meeting person? I have not seen a pic. on the stepfather so cannot comment on him. Perhaps the person on internet pretended to be her regular meeting person and intercepted.

ok, this really does not make any sense. is this a one or two story home? are there foot prints on the side of the house where a bedroom window is? are there fresh fingerprints on the widown pane?

to be honest, i think the step dad had something to do with it. i would think if she sneaked out the window, the window would have been left opened.

I believe it was the stepfather. He acted as though he was insane after they discovered the body. He can use the fact that he had previously checked himself in to a mental facility a few years prior to the incident. I believe if he is caught he will use the insanity defense to get out of punishment and he probably will. He'll most likely get away with murdering this girl.

I have some suspicions about the stepfather, but I refuse to jump to conclusions until more facts are known.  I have also considered sleep-walking as a possibility.  Hopefully they can come up with a cause of death, if it was drowning - they I would say it was the latter.  If it was suffocation, the former.

This mother did not protect her daughter, she brought in a porno lunatic, a known danger, (just read his facebook info) as her step father and had his disfunctional couch buddies sleeping over. So whatever happened to Celina came from within her own home. Why was Wendell let out of the mental instutution if he was a threat to himself and others and could not stand trial? Shame on his doctors. I have worked with dangerous PS and DID persons and these are frail personalities that can kill and be manipulated as well. Sorry mommy I blame you first. All of her parents are mentally challenged. I am sure she felt that Celina was the adult and could handle everything even at age 11 (thats what she thought anyway), cause who in the world could she go for protection? So sad. Celina, Dear Celina, we are strangers and so sorry, we will bring about justice on your behalf.
