Does Latest Casey Anthony News Mean Guilt Is Finally Sinking In?

by Cynthia Dermody on July 30, 2011 at 1:03 PM

solitary confinement

Casey Anthony has made the very wise decision of postponing her first television Interview until after she gets psychological help, according to TMZ. She gives three reasons for this, the first of which is "obvious mental health issues" stemming from her initial reaction and behavior following her daughter's death. Like when she covered it up, lied, lied and lied some more, and then went out and partied like nothing happened. The second reason is Casey is still dealing with the loss of her child. Best to just let that one go. And the third reason is ...

Three years in solitary confinement "messed with her head."

Ummmmm, yeah ... YA THINK????

Casey didn't need to outline all of these things to tell us she is one messed up chick. She honestly thought she appeared a stable person at any point of this whole horrific affair? The ironic thing is that if she waits until she's totally "straightened out" to give the first interview, we're going to be waiting a long long time. Maybe forever. I think her plea for "professional help" is just an excuse for bowing out of the TV network frenzy of trying to get her for a first interview. Now that the big climax has been reached, the guilt over all she did, all she got away with, may finally be settling in.

She had her courtroom victory, she celebrated by drinking beer on a boat, time is passing and she is realizing that it hasn't changed a thing. People still hate her. People still don't believe her. Her daughter is still dead. She's looking at her future and thinking holy God what did I do and where do I even go from here? That's what's totally messing this girl up. The fear. The wondering every single minute of every single day whether her newfound freedom is really a curse not a blessing, whether she's really just traded one form of solitary confinement for another.

I question whether Casey's response is even hers, or rather her lawyer's. I truly don't think "guilt is settling in" for Casey. I don't believe she is capable of this emotion. I think she and her lawyers are just working for best possible outcome, including learning how to appear/act contrite.

why do you feel the need to write this in such a critical nasty tone? does it give you fulfillment to join the masses in crucifying a person who you dont even know and dont even know what she has truly been through? Hurting people hurt people. i have to wonder what kind of pain are you suffering that you need to write this? maybe you need to go get your own help with your own issues. thanks.

I applaud her advisors. Casey Anthony has nothing to say. Postponing the interview will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until she speaks. Once she talks, it's all over, including her ticket to fame.

Well said! Even if she didn't kill Caylee (I personally think she did. . .) the series of her actions after the fact are appalling in their own right. Enough to induce her own little personal hell, I would hope. The lies on top of lies on top of other lies, the shameless partying, the continuous display of narcissism and lack of emotion over her "missing" daughter - these all point to a person dealing with psychopathological issues that will not be calmed by a "not guilty" verdict.

I have to agree with smitthy. I don't think guilt or feeling emotion is something this young woman is capable of feeling. I think she's a lost soul with very little, if any degree of conscientiousness. Sad, just sad. I don't think journalists write to intentionally cause more hurt. I think most of America still remains quite baffled by it all and spends time trying to figure out the mind of a very ill girl. Freedom of speech and opinion is the backbone of our constitution. Those who feel articles should be written favorably about Casey Anthony's behavior will be disappointed.

"Hurting people hurt people" huh?  I've got a beautiful life that I wake up grateful for every day - I tell you this because I just sat here for 5 minutes trying to probe my heart like a dentist probes for soft spots in your teeth to find where I might be hurting, because according to this, I must be hurting somehow to feel like Casey Anthony made her own bed and she can lie in it.  I don't give a hairy rat's hindquarters that she won't we able to "get on with her life" because she, IMHO, doesn't DESERVE to.

I don't believe for one second that she feels guilty now, nor that she ever will. She is a narcissist at the absolute very best. She is postponing her interview to ramp up the drama and probably ramp up the offers of payment. I agree with a previous poster. She does not deserve to live. She is evil right down to her core.

People who support Casey Anthony or the verdict have very little to contribute. Some even mention the Salem Witch Trials. That's interesting because Casey would fit my definition of a modern witch. She's a narcissistic, sociopathic, self-absorbed gold digger. The whole thing is like a fairy tale where Caylee is Snow White while Casey is the evil queen always asking the mirror who is the fairest one of all. Casey didn't like the attention Caylee got so she resorted to the poison apple (chloroform). Remember when one of Caylees searchers commented on how cute Caylee is, Casey put her childhood album over Caylee's picture and said, 'I was much cuter at her age?'
