Armando Uvalle was spending his Fourth of July weekend with his family on the beach and turned his back for a moment when most parents' number one fear almost became a reality. Uvalle's 2-year-old son, Isaiah, was snatched by a strange man. Thankfully, the father spotted the incredible incident and quickly grabbed his son from the kidnapper.
Uvalle then reported the kidnapper to a nearby cop, and he was arrested further down the beach. OMG, can you say holy crap!!
As it turned out, the man was a convicted sex offender named Tyrone Hill. He had been convicted in 1997 for aggravated criminal sexual assault of a child. He served seven years of a 12-year sentence. But in 2010, he was convicted of failure to register as a sex offender, and was on probation for that when he was arrested on Saturday.
This weekend, Hill was charged with one count of attempted aggravated kidnapping of a child under 12 and one count of unlawful restraint. The public defender said that Hill has schizophrenia and asked that he be sent to the hospital at the county jail, to which the judge agreed. Wow -- this whole story is both terrible and unnerving.
Here's hoping this time he gets the necessary treatment and punishment he deserves. You can see Armando tell his story to local Chicago news here ...
