Tens of thousands of Sarah Palin’s emails from her time in the Alaskan Governor’s office were released last week, and they revealed shocking information such as she’s Trig’s biological mother and she believed the media to be biased against her.
Like my friend Caleb Howe said (paraphrased), “And she also said it to their faces!”
What exactly did people expect out of these emails? Detailed correspondence to George W. Bush with the topic line reading “I can see Russia from my house”? Tawdry emails between her and her male interns? A note asking her assistant to bring her some news magazines because someday Katie Couric might ask her an insulting question?
Much to the chagrin of Palin Derangement Syndrome sufferers everywhere, none of that existed. Instead we get a portrait of a happy working mom, eager to lead Alaskans to economic prosperity by making use of its vast natural resources. We see her ability to work with everyone from her husband Todd to those on the other side of the aisle.
Essentially, we see a great leader. No wonder her approval rating topped 80 percent as Governor of Alaska.
In the mix of family and business correspondence, quite a few death threats showed up. One gem read:
She doesn't belong to the NRA to support the right of each citizen to have weapons in an aim of self-defence, but just to support the right of every southern white citizen to shoot all non-white people legally! Sarah Palin MUST BE KILLED!
That doesn’t even make sense. As far as I know, Governor Palin never did anything to prohibit Southern ‘non-white’ people from owning firearms, nor did she ever encourage anyone to randomly start shooting people. She simply supported (and still supports) the right of every American to own and use firearms for (responsible) hunting and for self-defense.
The blind hatred of Sarah Palin needs to stop. The media was practically frothing at the mouth last week when these emails were released, eager to find a shred of something upon which to skewer her. In the midst of a crappy economy, a housing crisis, questions of Constitutional overreach, a perverted congressman that refuses to resign, and a plethora of other topics, Sarah Palin’s emails should barely be a blip on the radar.
Interestingly enough, as soon as nothing incriminating could be found, the story was dropped like a hot potato.

The media and Palin hating liberals couldn't pretend these emails didn't happen fast enough. The Stir had to actually MAKE UP emails in order to make her look bad because the actual emails were quite professional and positive- there has been nothing found to show her as incompetent or an idiot... it would have been posted far and wide.
The damage is done, however, nothing can undo the damage the media wanted to inflict upon this woman's reputation. They accomplished their set-out goal and half the US population applaud them. It is disgusting, really... but a great example of the kind of people we share our world with.
Well said, Jenny. If only the media had been this interested in vetting the man they helped put into office.....
So refreshing to see something on "The Stir" besides Palin bashing.
*two thumbs up* Great post.
I dislike the lumping of all the people who dislike Sarah Palin into the group of "deranged" haters. What about the Republicans who think she's a joke? Are they deranged?
@MadelynMC, I'm also sick of not like Obama and being accused of it being about race. Yes, it's okay to not like someone just because you don't. It should never be lumped together.
All I said was *two thumbs up* I didn't cause nor do I want an argument. For once it would be so nice to all get along.
