Kanye West may think that George Bush hates black people (oh so that’s why he tripled the amount of aid to Africa from the Clinton presidency!) but it seems as though the more pertinent truth may be that Hollywood hates Conservatives.
In his latest book, Harvard Law School grad Ben Shapiro reveals what many of us have suspected all along: Liberal bias exists in Tinseltown. Primetime Propaganda: The True Hollywood Story of How the Left Took Over Your TV is based on a series of more than 100 interviews with Hollywood power players including Larry Gelbart (M*A*S*H), Fred Silverman (former president of ABC Entertainment, NBC, and vice president of programming at CBS), Marta Kauffman (Friends), David Shore (House), and Mark Burnett (Survivor).
The interviewees reveal with apparent relish that not only is liberalism predominant in the entertainment industry, but that they aim to push that agenda on America through their shows. Leonard Goldburg, a former ABC executive and producer of hit series such as Charlie’s Angels and Fantasy Island admits straight up that there’s no question about a liberal agenda being pushed on TV:
I don’t know about the content being pushed, but in terms of the thought about various matters social and political, it’s 100% dominant … and anyone who denies it is kidding or is not telling the truth … everyone is on one side.
Mr. Goldburg also tells the author that coming from a different politic perspective is absolutely a barrier to entry into Hollywood. Oh libs, it would be so nice if you practiced what you preached and showed some tolerance.
Not only do the liberal Hollywood elites shut out conservatives, they like to openly mock them as well. Friends creator Marta Kauffman admits that hiring Candace Gingrich (sister of Newt) to officiate a lesbian wedding on the show was a direct “’F*ck you’ to the right wing.”
Right, because Republicans hate gay people. Insert eye roll here.
Shapiro’s book is enough to make one long for the days when performers were called jesters, existed to entertain, and were never taken seriously. Can you imagine Sheryl Crow trying to explain to Queen Elizabeth that we could save the planet by only using one square of tissue to wipe?
Well, she might have laughed. I laughed when I heard that. It’s ridiculous.
Shapiro says he wrote the book as a “plea for openness in the industry.” He added, “Hire people from the other side of the aisle once in a while, or at least stop mocking them.”

Glad you posted this. If any of this comes as a surprise to anyone, they are a fool. It is still nice to see it written in black and white.
Click on the video links ... they're amazingly forthright.
Normally I hate the -
'They hate us more.'
'No, THEY hate US more!'
sort of political drama. That and the whole 'But it's their horrible agenda!' Those sorts of firmly held political beliefs about the other side really tend to muck up the whole 'lets work together and forward' sort of thing- IMO. So, it's horrible, when we find that much like Racism, there are pockets where political intolerance for the other side is running rampant.
It's pretty scary that this intolerance gets to be showcased on a subliminal level as well.
Hollywood is all about money, folks. As soon as deeply conservative programming starts to make money, Hollywood will be all for it. But television shows from a conservative POV haven't really ever taken off (except for Fox News and even Fox's sit-coms and such aren't necessarily conservative...the Simpsons ring a bell?) and movies of that flavor die big...nobody, but nobody, went to see Atlas Shrugged or an American Carol.
Come up with something that works as entertainment from a conservative point of view, grab some eyeballs of the right demographic -- for instance by making 'net-only-shows focusing on teen boys -- and watch Hollywood fall all over itself to pay to air it.
Or you could just whine about 'Hollyweird' always being so mean to conservatives. I guess that's easier.
Well I am also agree with the things , after all every one is here for Business and moreover Hollywood Movies are good option !
Not big wow moment for me here, either. News media and the entertainment industry are essentially rotten to the core with Leftism. I'm pretty sure the constant presentation of Left Is Normal is the only way the "ideals" of government rescue and reliance stay alive and well - it's a mob mentality, where not great ideas seem just fine because so many people accept it. I just think it's amazing how many people don't even realize they're being conditioned by the media to expect less and less of themselves.
Andrea, clearly you are a new Stir reader. Jenny is the only "conservative" blogger on the site. If you want to see the other side of the story, just click around a bit. There are more than enough opinions from the other side.
