Not sure this tidbit qualifies as news so much as insanity, but F. Lee Bailey, former lawyer to O.J. Simpson, says Simpson is innocent of the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman and that he has proof!

No, I'm not kidding.

What proof does Bailey have exactly? Well, it's a 20,000-word document he wrote as a book proposal for a book that never got published (ahem). The document states that four people who could have helped Simpson's case never testified back in 1995.

What four people?

The four people F. Lee Bailey claims could have helped Simpson's case include:

  • A forensic scientist
  • An expert on battered women
  • A blood expert
  • A man who might have seen the killers. This witness, Bailey says, claims to have seen a woman who matched Nicole Brown Simpson's description in an apparent confrontation with two men, neither being O.J. Simpson, on the night of the murders (another attractive blonde in Brentwood, California, impossible!!!)

L.A. attorney Gloria Allred, who represented Nicole Brown Simpson's family during Simpson's trial, says there's nothing new or telling in Bailey's document that might persuade people to believe Simpson is innocent. If Bailey's evidence were strong, it may have helped him in the civil trial that came after his acquittal and in which Simpson was found liable for the deaths and ordered to pay a $33.5 million judgment.

If Mr. Bailey can't think of anything better than trying to help the public reputation of O.J. Simpson, that's really sad.

O.J. Simpson is currently serving a serving a 9- to 33-year sentence for kidnapping, armed robbery, and other charges for his role in the gunpoint robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel.

Could anything convince you that O.J. Simpson is innocent? What would it take?
