Verizon iPhone Announcement! 5 Reasons to Celebrate

iphone press conference verizon The news that all of us with Verizon but without iPhones have been waiting for was just made official at a press conference today by Verizon and Apple: The iPhone 4 is coming to Verizon. And soon!

Verizon announced that the iPhone 4 will be available on the Verizon network starting February 10, and existing Verizon customers can pre-order beginning February 3. The phone will cost $200 with a two-year contract, which I'm already used to signing every time I get a new phone. STOKED!

I realize I, like a bazillion others, could completely crash Verizon's system by running to get the iPhone on February 10. But this is one trend I'm going to be right on top of from the start. No matter what kind of havoc it causes the cell phone industry.

Here are five reasons why:

No more iPhone envy
Now I can finally bone up on those touch screen skills I'm sorely missing
No more relying on my crappy GPS when I get lost in LA (like, every other day)
No more choosing between locking my BlackBerry up like Ft. Knox or pocket dialing everyone I know
Soon I will be able to join the ranks of the Apple enthusiasts/Apple complainers as soon as something goes wrong on my new iPhone, but I look really cool anyway

No, I'm not. Even if I were already a Verizon customer, and especially if I were an AT&T customer, I'd hold off until the summer. Apple has announced a new iPhone every June for the past few years, so if I were signing a contract, and especially if I was paying an early termination fee from AT&T, I'd want it to be for the latest phone, instead of one that's seven months old.

DAMNIT! I held out for six months after my contract was up and it didn't come out. So I got a DROID for Christmas (which I love). DANG IT ALL!

I am going to so enjoy watching what is going to happen to verizon...I worked at at&t for a while and got to listen to everyone complaining about their service...never going to get an iphone unless I can see that the networks can totally handle it...I think I will keep my service with t-mobile...

I will be waiting for the upgraded version and a white one. Had iPhone before-pretty white one-and loved it just HATED AT&T. I am excited though.

For the large majority of us that live outside NY or SF, the AT&T network is tops and keeps getting better. Good luck, Verizon, with a phone that's gonna be obsolete in 6 months (iPhone 5!) and does not work on the 4G network. Oh, and AT&Ts 4G will open soon to coincide with the iPhone 5 release. So go get your iPhone 4, and keep using that old network and you'll still suffer iPhone envy when the new one comes out.

The AT&T iPhone 4 is already "4G" no need to wait for the iPhone 5. The problem is that like T-M, it's not really 4G... but it is 4G according to what AT&T and TM are calling 4G. It's going to be a while before AT&T really has, or Verizon for that matter, a true 4G LTE network (yes eventually they will be on the same technology)

I left Verizon 2 yrs ago & went 2 AT&T ( all because of the iPhone). Believe me when I say @ first the service was bad, but over the years it's been getting much better. For now I'm going 2 stick with AT&T being that I just got the ip4.. It's a BEAST once "JAILBROKEN" the things 1 can do once it's "JB" is un-imaginable...
