Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid called Kirsten Gillibrand the Senate's "hottest member" at a fundraiser for Michael Bloomberg (he needs money?) and the internet crowd is going wild.
As I conjectured earlier in Kirsten Gillibrand Should Follow Fellow Hottie Scott Brown's Lead, Reid meant it as a joke and was referencing the fact that Gillibrand had been named one of Capitol Hill's most beautiful people. Reid also went on to compliment Gillibrand on her knowledge of securities law.
According to reports, however, the audience was "shocked" at Reid's comment and Gillibrand blushed. But what does she really think about Reid calling her hot?
She thinks it's funny.
Gillibrand's spokesman Matt Canter emailed the following statement to Maggie Haberman at Politico:
"The Leader was saying nice things about the work Senator Gillibrand and Senator Reid have done together over the last year and half, and made a joke referencing to the Hill article from earlier this year. Senator Gillibrand has the utmost respect for Senator Reid and looks forward to continue working together to repeal DADT, pass 9/11 health, and create good-paying jobs across the country."
So there you have it. Gillibrand can take a joke. Or maybe she's just afraid of Sharron Angle. I know I am.
