According to CBS News, an estimated 87,000 people showed up at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to support Glenn Beck and his Restoring Honor Rally. The U.S. Park Service says as many as 350,000 were there; and Beck's estimates were even higher.

He joked about how the media would minimize the number of people who turned out.

Glenn Beck Rally"We are humbled that you are here," he said. "The reflecting pool holds about 200,000 people. This field back here holds about 250- to 300,000 people. They are not only full here, they're full in that field, they're full behind me, and they are now across the street approaching the Washington Monument."

It will be interesting to see how many counts come in for the event. I'm not sure how numbers can be that far off, but they certainly seem to be.

Besides that, most reports seem to agree that there were no major incidents at the rally attended by a predominately white crowd.

Chris Good at The Atlantic went to the event and provides a good recap, including the fact that he only saw five black people in the crowd and how surprisingly non-political the day was.

"Everything Glenn Beck says during the rally has to do with the discovery of faith, American history, or some connection between the two. He lists more American historical figures than it's possible to count. He tells the crowd to discover faith. He tells them the future of America rests on their personal discoveries of faith, and on the nation's collective discovery of faith."

Al Sharpton, who held a counter Recalim the Dream Rally nearby, directly addressed Beck and his crowd.

I can't find any reports as to how many people attended Sharpton's rally, but even if I could, who knows how accurate they would be.
