There are many reasons I hope my son opts to play tennis or golf rather than football when he grows up, but one more to stack on the heap would be Tim Tebow's awful haircut.
The rookie quarterback for the Denver Bronco's got the cut as part of some hairy hazing the new players were subject to during Saturday's practice.
"I think all the rookies had a good time with it," Tebow said. "It was something to give everybody a laugh, something also to build chemistry."
Sure, it was all in good fun, but it's just so, so awful looking. It reminds me of those angelic halos children wear in Christmas pageants ... only made of hair. And it's connected to all of his facial hair, which looks like a big, itchy chin strap. It's beyond ugly.
My fear is that young football players around the country are going to start imitating this ritual of the Broncos, and we're going to start seeing these dos on players everywhere. Their poor mothers!
Oh well, I guess there are worse things than a bad haircut ... except when it comes to family reunions and holiday card portraits.
