What? You were unable to attend the Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky wedding last night in Rhinebeck, New York? That's okay. Here's a recap, plus some of the glorious photos. It will be just like you'd been there in person -- without having to write that very very big check.
What they wore:
Chelsea -- A strapless silk organza gown with a draped tulle bodice and an embellished belt designed by Vera Wang, a Clinton family friend, who was also a guest at the wedding, according to People.com. Wang also designed the bridesmaid dresses.
Marc -- Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey, another family friend, designed the groom's tuxedo; Mezvinksy also wore a yarmulke and a tallit prayer shawl as in traditional in Jewish wedding ceremonies, though this one was interfaith.Chelsea is Methodist.
Bill Clinton and the groomsmen -- Baily also designed the ties for the groomsmen and Bill Clinton, who wore a dark suit and white shirt.
Hillary -- Long-time friend Oscar de la Renta designed the Secretary of State's fuschia dress.
Who was there:
It was a far cry from the Hollywood red carpet everyone expected, according to the examiner.com. But that's how Chelsea wanted it. The guest list was largely political and business types, including Secretary of State Madeline Albright, investor Steve Bing, and the wealthiest man in the world, Warren Buffett. Ted Danson and wife Mary Steenburgen were the only Hollywood couple spotted. It is possible others got dropped off behind the scenes by helicopter, but more likely Oprah and Obama were no-shows.
What the couple gave as favors:
Gift bags filled with lots of local goodies, including fancy wine from Clinton vineyards, cookies, peaches, and pretzels, TMZ reports.
What they said:
The Clintons issued this statement after the ceremony:
Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day.
