Hey, NAACP, the Tea Party Is Not Racist!

Racists are everywhere. Everywhere. In the Democratic party. In the Republican party. In the Green Party. And at just about any party you'll find yourself at on any given occasion. But there aren't any racists in the Tea Party. No, sir. Not one.

The Tea Party is basically the "new Civil Rights Movement" so it's a real head scratcher as to why the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is going to be holding a party of its own -- a convention in Kansas City -- where it will propose a resolution “condemning racism within the tea party movement.” The resolution calls upon “all people of good will to repudiate the racism of the Tea Parties, and to stand in opposition to its drive to push our country back to the pre-civil rights era."

What is wrong with those NAACP-ers anyway? They are just so 1964. They wouldn't know racism if it was staring them in the face.

Dale Robertson,
founder of the Tea Party

All you have to do is ask Brendan Steinhauser, the director of campaigns for FreedomWorks and organizer of tea parties, if there's racism in the movement, and you'll get just the answer you're looking for.

"I just don’t see racism in the tea party movement," he says. “Racism is something we’re absolutely opposed to. The NAACP has more of a political agenda now, but I would hope that they would appreciate the fact that the tea party movement has a lot in common with the civil rights movement. I’m personally inspired by what the civil rights movement did, and I want them to know that."

And if you don't believe him (though there's obviously no reason you shouldn't), just go to a nice, friendly Tea Party rally. You won't see a racist in the crowd.
