Cop Punches Woman in Face: Senseless in Seattle?

when i first saw this video i thought to myself who is in the wrong, well even if they were only jay walking, what we don't see is the part of why the cop was arresting her in the first place. This is what resulted in her resisting arrest, then the friend tries to assist the friend to release her. i know a way for this to be avoided, just answer the cops questions, be calm, and none of this would have happened. But because a lot of african americans think that whites are racist, they feel that they have the right to act stupid, and do something that would put themselves in harms way. I know this wouldn't happen between two of my friends, because i wouldn't have resisted, i would have been cooperative, and just dealt the situation maturely...... this is the young girls fault, even if it was an abuse of power, there were 10-15 people standing by, and only one of him...... i hope he does not get reprimanded.

I say good for him.  He was alone, I'm sure it was impossible to tell how many more people were coming at him, and they were both getting very physical with him.  YOU DON'T HIT COPS.  I don't care if you're a fairy princess.  You hit a cop, you get hit back.

Of course, any ordinary citizen would be upset at being arrested for simply crossing the road...we are not herded cows to be crossing the road only where they draw the line on the road. Whatever happenned to human judgement? People all over the world cross the road anywhere as long as they can see its safe to do so. ONLY in US you can get ARRESTED and PUNCHED in the face by police for doing so. WHat are we? Babies in the crib whose safety needs to be taken care of by guardian angel cops, who then punch you in the face if you don't follow their instructions? The cops should go do something more useful, like ACTUALLY CATCHING REAL CRIMINALS!! Hellooo...those supporting the cops, go get some perspective, PLEASE.

It is the girls fault.  What the hell is she doing pushing a cop.  That will teach her.

Why do they think it is ok to fight the police?? They know it is illegal  to jaywalk, so what is their problem?  They have NO right to fight or shove a policeman, Why doesnt he have a right to fight back?  No, a man should not hit a woman, but.. if she hits him then he has a right to protect himself! whether you are black or white, woman or man, you go against a policeman, then ,"you" are the "stupid"one! Respect the law, and the law will respect you,  if you dont do anything wrong, and the law does, then sue!!

I am shocked at those of you who say she got what was coming to her.  This was jaywalking. How is that a threat to anyone's security? Should the officer have cited her yes. Should she have mouthed off? No. But where does the training come in. Wasn't he trained in dealing with irate people. More times than not people are going to be upset when talking to the police.  And if he really felt threatened by 2 girls he has a radio. USE IT.  

You are all quick to say we don't know what she said to him. Well we also don't know what he said to her. What if he said something threatening? And they were reacting out of fear not hostility. Would that change your mind? He is the police officer, he is the one that should have made a choice to take the higher ground. This was a punch to the face. If he can't handle a jaywalking incident better than this it may be time for a career change.

Yeah, that's a good philosophy, connpress.  "Yes, officer, I was breaking the law, but I was using good sense when I did it."  Jaywalking, whether you like it or not, is ILLEGAL, just like speeding.  If you got pulled over for speeding so the cop could write you a ticket, would you and your friend get out of the car and start pushing him around?  I certainly hope you would use your "human judgement", take the ticket, and go about your day instead.  She didn't get arrested and punched in the face for jaywalking.  Her friend was stopped for jaywalking, and she decided to assault a police officer (who she also had some weight on) along with her friend, and THEN she got punched.  Was he supposed to stand there and get shoved around by two out of control women?  Then he'd be all over the news for not doing his job.  And if those women had gotten hit by a car while jaywalking, they probably would have sued the driver and the city.  Whatever happened to people taking responsibilty for their actions like grown-ups?  No, let's not do that.  Let's attack a lone police officer instead!  What a GREAT country that would be!
