I've said it before and I'll say it again: Politicians always seem to turn to celebrities when they have a problem.

In this case, former state GOP Chairwoman Sue Lowden of Nevada has a Senate campaign to win, and she's banking on Tom Cruise's "wacky Scientologist" image to help her do so.

Did you catch Tom in the ad (hint: his photo is in the "shrine").

So what's he got to do with a Senate race in Nevada anyway?

Lowden hopes to align Cruise with her opponent Sharron Angle, a Tea Party favorite, who has supported the Church of Scientology in the past.

Angle also sponsored legislation in 2002 supporting spa treatments for Nevada prison inmates. That plan, according to Lowden's ad, was conceived by the Church of Scientology.

What do you think of the ad? Does Lowden's dig at the Church of Scientology and the photo of Tom Cruise make her ad campaign against Angle stronger -- or weaker?
