Flickr photo by plasmastikFormer President George W. Bush may have ruled out tweeting (according to Karl Rove), but yesterday he launched his Facebook page. Maybe he was waiting for all those Facebook privacy concerns to be resolved.
His first status update says:
Since leaving office, President Bush has remained active. He has visited 20 states and 8 countries; given over 65 speeches; launched the George W. Bush Presidential Center; participated in 4 policy conferences through The Bush Institute; finished the first draft of his memoir, “Decision Points”; and partnered with President Clinton to establish the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.
He also gives a shout-out to his wife Laura -- her memoir Spoken From the Heart is #1 on The New York Times bestseller list for the third consecutive week.
Bush already has more than 45,000 fans and lots of links -- such as info on who to contact if you want to schedule an event with him.
His 5 favorite pages are:
- Global Health Corps
- Clinton Bush Haiti Fund
- Barbara Bush Foundation
- Laura W. Bush
- George Bush Presidential Library Foundation
He hasn't liked "Sh*t My Dad Says" yet, and it doesn't look like he's hooked on Mafia Wars or Farmville. But just wait.
Hurry up and friend him -- you might get invited to his birthday party (July 6).
