I love Ann Curry. She's smart, poised, interesting, generous, and gorgeous. I feel like she's one of those people that doesn't have a bad bone in her body.
Today, though, she's feeling pretty bad about herself for a graduation speech she made at Wheaton College in Massachusetts.
Wheaton College 175th Commencement from Lisa Nelson on Vimeo.
During the speech, Curry confused that college with Wheaton College in Illinois, when she named some of the college's famous graduates -- Billy Graham, Wes Craven, Todd Beamer -- none of whom attended Wheaton College in Massachusetts.
Curry says she is mortified by the error (it's been edited out of the video shown here), and she sent a letter of apology to the school's president and the Wheaton College community.
If you were a student at Wheaton College, would you forgive her?

I don't know. She is a journalist. Shouldn't she be doing background research on things? What happened to doing your job? Sounds like she really fell down on hers. At least this graduation will be memorable, although for the wrong reasons!
I want to know who is losing their job over this flub...
This goes to show how worthless commencement speeches can be. Her (or whoever wrote it for her) mistake negates everything the ceremony stands for. "Ok everyone, here's a professional from the real world, she's going to inspire you!" She might as well have said "...and go on and do great things like your fellow alumni: Superman, Batman and Robin."
