The fastest runners have already crossed the finish line:
Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot of Kenya, 21, shattered the course record and did the 26-mile run in 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 52 seconds. Tekeste Kebede of Ethiopia came in second in 2:07:25; Deriba Merga, also of Ethiopia, was third at 2:08:39. No American man has won the Boston Marathon since 1983.
For the women, Teyba Erkesso, 27, of Ethiopia, came in first, crossing the finish line in 2:26:11. Russian Tatyana Pushkareva, 24, the second-place finisher, was just 3 seconds behind her. That was close!
