Goodness knows I am a sucker for modern design, but I totally get how it can seem a little ... sterile at times. When I spotted this nursery done for baby Alice, my heart skipped a beat because it seems to have a magically wonderful mix of warm and welcoming modern style with a vintage flair, things not often found existing together in the same room!

Here's a sweet little nursery put together for baby Jane by her mom, Kirsten, who also happens to be a designer! I feel like it's feminine without being overly girly, which can be difficult to do.

I've written about my husband's most irritating household fails, and I've documented some of my own less-than-stellar habits, but really, adult-created messes are nothing compared to the Tasmanian Devil effect children have on a home. Thanks to my boys, I feel like Sisyphus on a daily basis: there goes my (laundry-shaped, LEGO-studded, peanut-butter-encrusted) boulder up the hill ... and here it comes, right back down to where it started.

It's hard to single out the most maddening kid-caused chores, because there are SO VERY MANY OF THEM, but I walked around the house recently snapping pictures of a few things that drive me straight up a wall, every single day of my life. Maybe you'll recognize some of this brain-melting kid clutter -- or maybe your house is Martha-perfect at all hours of the day. (If that's the case, for the love of 409, don't tell me.) Behold, the most irritating kid messes that eternally plague my house:

Ever wondered what a true designer nursery looks like? I stumbled across this one from Lucas Studio based in L.A. and thought it would be fun to share. There are a lot of elements I love about this space. It's so impressive! Wouldn't everybody like to have a luxurious daybed in their nursery and a sitting area like the one pictured above?

I love the story behind this nursery! Britt and Keith didn't know whether or not they'd be bringing home boys or girls when they set out to adopt two babies from Ethiopia. In the meantime, they decided to design a gender-neutral nursery that would work either way. Lucky them, they ended up with one of each when they welcomed handsome Gus and lovely Lula into their family!

I think you'll quite enjoy this sweet little shared space -- click through to see a few more pics below!

    Congratulations to our winner, foistela!

It's back-to-school time, and you know what that means right? It's time to revamp the homework space. Your kiddos spend most of the day sitting in a desk, so why not make things a bit more comfortable at home, right?

This Sitting Bull Fashion Mini Beanbag from Gilt Kids is absolutely adorable. Full of vibrant colors, what better way to learn numbers and letters than sitting on them all snuggled up, amiright?

Designing for small spaces can be difficult, especially when it comes to a nursery! But I love a good challenge and it turns out that babies really don't need all that extra stuff anyway, right?

Photographer Shauna Maness did a tremendous job with this nursery nook located in the master bedroom of her Dallas apartment. That pocket-sized hotel crib and a few other purposeful details really add to the character and function of this space.

Personally, I love it when people aren't afraid to go crazy with color. Especially in a nursery like this one from Holly over at Life as a Thrifter. She put together this eclectic room for daughter Ross with IKEA finds and thrift store treasures for a brightly finished space.

Their new baby will be arriving some time in the next few weeks, so Giuliana & Bill Rancic have decided to move out of their swanky rental home to prepare for their new life as parents. The house is located in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, so whoever winds up purchasing the $2.4 million gem will have plenty of celebrity neighbors to invite over for backyard cookouts.

The house is a gorgeous, white Cape Cod style with a white picket fence, garden, swimming pool, and beautiful hillside views. It also has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, so it's the perfect size for a small family. Actually, the home looks like something out of a storybook. (Why are they moving, exactly? This place is adorable!)

Gray makes for such a perfect starting point when it comes to designing nurseries, which explains why we've been seeing so much of it! There are just so many different directions you can take, from nice and neutral to bright pops of color ... kind of like this happy nursery spotted at the b-line

Amy re-vamped a formerly dark and dreary guest room into this sun-filled space for her little one by re-purposing a few key pieces and accenting with fun fabrics, some of which she designed herself.
