So you may have heard, winter storm Nemo just blew through and buried much of the Northeast in snow. Some folks are still digging their way out, but the fun goes on! This morning we had that kind of rain that turns snow into gray, mucky slush, and it's been 50 shades of yuck all over town. Add to that the freezing temps we've had all winter and you know what? I've gotta get out of here!

I am so ready for a warm-weather escape. At the end of the week, we're heading south -- to Houston for my grandma's 95th birthday. We'll definitely enjoy the warmer weather there, and I'll enjoy seeing my family. But here are five other body-and-soul-warming vacation destinations I wish I could visit right now.

They say a dog is man's best friend. A dog loves unconditionally, doesn't care how you look that day, and even forgives you instantly if you're in a bad mood or say something you shouldn't. You really can't find a better best friend than a pet -- which is why it's so awful the way they get treated by some people. For others, a dog isn't only a best friend -- but an ONLY friend. That's the case with this homeless man's pooch, who is not only his only friend, but his lifesaver.

Whether it be used for homework or for coloring the next great masterpiece, every kid needs a spot where they can get creative! Of course the kitchen table will do in a pinch, but I've found that having a designated space available certainly helps foster a bit more focus, so why not have some fun with it?

I've put together some rather delightful inspirations (like that spiffy little nook above, a renovated closet if I'm not mistaken). Click through to see 5 more below!

Oh Adele! I love you! Beyonce may have stolen the Super Bowl halftime show, but new mom Adele stole my heart (as usual) when I read that she of the golden voice just gave her own mom the deed to an apartment worth almost ... are you ready for this? ... a million dollars!

Penny Adkins, otherwise known as "Adele's mom," now has a super fab London flat to call her own, in the very same Notting Hill neighborhood where Adele owns another posh pad. So sweet!

Yeah, yeah, I know -- Adele’s a bazillionaire and, for her, giving Mom a million-dollar apartment is like you or me giving our moms a ... what? Hmm, probably not a car. More like ... a really fancy ... day at the spa. Right? But that’s not the point.

The Kellogg family lives in their dream house ... but it isn’t what you’d expect a “typical” dream house to look like. There is no indoor swimming pool or theatre, no expansive dining room or impressive kitchen, and quarters are actually pretty tight. And there’s only one bathroom for the family of 14. Oh yeah, and it’s on wheels.

The Kellogg’s love adventure and the outdoors so much that they recently decided to sell their Colorado home and hit the road in a 36-foot RV. Mom Susie said, “We wanted to get rid of the mortgage … get rid of the car payments and breathe.”

Winter can be an ugly time for gardens. We all love the sight of a garden covered in a fresh blanket of snow. Dark bare branches, seed pods, and icicles can look hauntingly gorgeous. But when the snow melts away -- or if you never get that snow at all? Bleh. You're looking at a dreary deathscape of brown and gray.

So how do you beautify your garden in the winter? I refuse to believe that closing the drapes for three months is the only answer! Here are some ideas for helping your garden look its best even through the dark days of winter.

I love seeing photos of nurseries and rooms for children that feel functional and like children really live there. I see a lot of picture-perfect in the design world, and yet nothing makes me more happy than homes that feel comfortable and lived in.

This room put together by Ninainvorm feels warm and homey and exactly how a shared space for two sisters should look. See more below!

I made a vow last year to stay away from Pinterest because it made me feel so badly about myself. Little by little, though, I've found my way back. Last week, I let my son convince me to conduct a series of experiments, which of course completely flopped. The week before, I attempted an "easy" chocolate cake which nobody in my house would even eat. And the week before that, I actually bought glass bottles to house my dish soap in. How did I allow this to happen?!?

Where Pinterest is concerned, I'm trying to learn my limits. It's great for inspiration, but for moms like me, can also be the ultimate disaster. Here are ten ideas I'll most definitely be staying away from ...
