Here's a weird confession: I really love to clean my house. I don't always have time to do so, but when I do, I find it incredibly satisfying to see dirt and dust and obliterate them. I feel triumph when I remove smudges on walls, and when I make my sinks sparkle, I'm giddy. There's a certain Zen to it that grounds me and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

Over the years, I've accumulated some tips that may not be traditional, but they work. And they're much more fun than just a bunch of chemicals in spray bottles. Here are five of my favorite weird ways to clean some common household messes.

What weird cleaning techniques do you use?

Just like massive football linebackers, your kitchen pantry can be one horrific thing to try and tackle. OK, so the joke is lame -- but in all seriousness, standing in front of a chock-full cabinet, organizing and cleaning out the shelves isn't exactly anyone's idea of the perfect Sunday afternoon activity.

Nevertheless, it has to get done every once in a while. Things goop and gob, jars get shelved again that have nothing left inside, and let's be real -- that can of soup you don't even like that you bought solely for the fact that it was 25 cents? Yeah, you don't need that anymore.

Check out these 5 painless tips for cleaning out your pantry in minutes:

When it comes to traveling with kids, the preparation can be the most taxing part. Packing for myself is difficult enough, but when I try to anticipate the needs and wants and needed distractions for two other highly unpredictable little people, I tend to get panicky. That usually means I pack more and more and more until our suitcases and car are stuffed with so much stuff, they're bulging at the seams. It's crazy, and every time I vow I won't do it again. Then I do.

So in a quest to pack smarter for an upcoming trip with my children, I turned to an expert to help me. Tara Donohue Rudo, a Certified Professional Organizer, runs No More Piles and works to help busy families streamline their lives by saving time and reclaiming space. Exactly what I need -- to reclaim more space in my suitcase! Here are her three best tips to keep in mind when packing for your next trip.

Every other Tuesday, my morning routine gets thrown into complete upheaval, because I have to get up early and run around like a chicken with my head cut off -- all because every other Tuesday is the day when my cleaning lady comes.

Yes, I have a cleaning lady, and I'm not ashamed to admit it, and having one doesn't make me some sort of pretentious snob who thinks she is too good to clean her own house. It's simply an issue of not having the time, energy, or the will power to clean my 2,800-square-foot house -- most of which consists of hardwood floors. (There's only so much mopping I can handle.)

And while having a cleaning lady is more than worth the extra cash I have to put aside each month, it doesn't mean that my day is stress-free when she comes, and it doesn't mean that I don't do any cleaning at all.

Because cleaning before the cleaning lady comes is almost as big of a pain in the rear end as cleaning the house myself.

So far on this season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Yolanda Foster has been pretty much a non-player. She hasn't really done much but flaunt her fabulous figure, family, and lemons. Still, it was a scene in her house that has haunted me ever since it aired a few weeks back -- the one in which they showed her refrigerator.

Even if you couldn't care less about any housewives in any city, it truly is a thing of beauty that can be appreciated by all.

The front is glass, which gives you an uninterrupted view of everything inside. That might be a negative for some, but it would be a shame to hide the contents of hers, as everything is fresh, ripe, and color-coordinated. It makes you feel peaceful and healthy just looking at it, and it bests even the most beautiful grocery store display.

Ever since I saw it and its awesomeness, I've been left with a major case of refrigerator envy, and I've been feeling ashamed of mine ever since.

A lot of families have a no-shoes rule for their homes. It just makes sense, especially for those of us who do the cleaning up after our kids stomp around in mud, playground gravel, and goodness knows what else. And wearing slippers or socks indoors makes everyone feel more cozy at home. I feel like taking my shoes off as soon as I get home helps me transition into a totally different (more relaxed!) mindset. It's the way I was raised, and wearing shoes inside just feels weird.

But I take this healthy habit a step further. I make all our visitors take off their shoes, too. Whether it's kids on a play date or adults coming over for dinner, I'll politely ask you to remove your shoes. In fact, I'm totally shameless about asking everyone.

Big news in my life: Snooki might just be my own personal Martha Stewart. Seriously. See, I love having a clean house, but I have a really tough time motivating myself to actually do the mopping and organzing and folding and ... yawn. Like, why can't Mary Poppins just show up and do that snappy finger thing and make everything put itself away?! Cleaning is sooooooo boring. Or it was. Because thanks to Snooki, I think I finally figured out a way to making tidying up tolerable! The other day, Snooki made the following announcement on Twitter:

"Today was cleaning day. It's only appropriate to rock red lipstick in lounge clothes."

And then she linked to these super-cute pics on Instagram. Aww, she looks so happy, I thought. To be cleaning the house! Hey ... can we say lightbulb moment?!
