Big Kid Say What!?

Principal Tells Students to Quit Facebook or Get Expelled

kids on computer The intent is admirable -- to crack down on cyber bullying that has become rampant among children. However, the means one principal is taking is more than extreme as she's threatening to expel any child under the age of 13 who has a Facebook account.

According to a story in The Sydney Morning Herald, Leonie Hultgren, the principal of Harlaxton State School in Toowoomba, Queensland, isn't just talking about children who use Facebook during school hours, or those who have been accused of using it maliciously, but rather ANY student that has an account that's not 13. She says those are the rules of the site, and for good reason. She believes children younger than that aren't mature enough to handle the responsibility of it, and she for one isn't going to tolerate it.

Never mind what those people called parents at home think. She's reaching beyond the school doors and into people's homes to dictate what they can and can't do. What a slippery slope that is.

5 Ways to Make Your Guest Room Feel Like a Bed & Breakfast

guest bedroomNow that Spring is in full force and we're counting down the days until Summer, plenty of us are scrambling to get our houses in order for guests who are planning on coming for a visit (whether we like it or not.) And while some overnight guests are definitely easier to deal with than others, it's still nice to have an inviting space for them to relax and unwind in during their stay.

In my current house, I have your typical spare bedroom containing a dresser, a couple of nightstands, and a queen-sized bed. It serves its purpose, but it's definitely not what I would consider to be an ideal guest space. About 99 percent of the time, the room is used to house baskets of folded laundry and suitcases that haven't been unpacked in weeks. But when visitors do come once or twice a year, I try and spruce it up as best I can.

Disney Fantasy
The lobby on board -- first room you enter
I think it's pretty safe to say that I want to live on the Disney cruise ship, the Fantasy. After just three nights on board, we were nowhere near ready to leave. It wasn't JUST all the entertainment, the amazing kids' programs, the free babysitting, the adult-free zones, the food, and the spa. I fell head-over-heels in love with the decor.

It literally was like stepping into a Disney movie. Bright, saturated colors everywhere, whimsical shapes, and cushy, cushy, cushy. Is it all just a little bit silly? Um, YEAH. A lot silly. But the whimsy won me over. It made me wonder -- why take life so seriously? Keep reading to see what I mean.

I think soothing is what most people go for when it comes to creating a nursery, and soothing is exactly what designer Lindsay Brier managed to achieve with this space for her son, Hawken. Its neutral base with bright pops of orange could definitely work for either gender. But she also used stripes!

See more about how she decorated her baby's room, below.

Posted by Amy Keyishian

Outdoor BedroomIt seems like we women still like to take control of home décor, and our husbands are often glad to let us take the reins. But we can’t let the power go to our heads, ladies. The bedroom is an oasis, sure – it’s a cliché because it’s true. But that goes for both of you.

Take a look around your bedroom. Do a throw-pillow count. Conduct a hue check. Use a floral detector. Do you think of your bedroom as "mine," or "ours"? In the wake of Valentine’s Day, let’s make sure we’re not driving our husbands into man-caves by making our shared sanctuary into a lady-orchard. (Wait, what?)

Take the master bedroom quiz and find out whether yours is a his, a hers, or an ours!
