Dyson's New Air Multiplier: A Fan Minus Blades

Sheri Reed

The new Dyson Air Multiplier fan is pretty fancy looking — and look no fan blades! So I guess they've created the first un-fan.

Now I do have to say I love my Dyson vacuum cleaner and feel it was worth the high price — especially cause I found it on sale at Target, marked down over $200! It's bagless and dare I say, smart for a vacuum cleaner. Everything kind of works like you want it to.

Of course, the new Air Multiplier is no different with its high tech value, and it's hopelessly modern looking too. Dyson claims the "fan works very differently to conventional fans" and "uses Air Multiplier technology to draw in air and amplify it 15 times, producing an uninterrupted stream of smooth air."

As a mom with small children, I do have to say I love the no blades part. If they'd have launched this sucker a few weeks ago when it was 105 degrees in September, I might have thrown $300+ at the thing. However, now it's rainy and cool, which makes me somehow smarter about where the money goes.

In any case, I like where Dyson is going with this new invention, but I'll be waiting for the price to drop, the sale price, or another heat wave to make me insane enough to throw that kind of money around.

The Dyson Air Multiplier comes in two sizes — 10 inches tall (about $300) and 12 inches tall (about $330) — in white, silver or blue — at dyson.com.

What do you think of Dyson's new blade-less fan design? Would you get one?
