Kitchen (before): Dark cabinets and older appliances
Kitchen (before)
Here's another Before & After kitchen makeover from a CafeMom. Moms are pretty amazing when it comes to home makeovers — almost more so on a budget, it seems.
Above is a "before" shot from the kitchen of CafeMom Devyn. Click through to see her lovely "after" shots.
Here's what CafeMom Devyn had to say about her kitchen makeover:
"All I did was refinish the existing cabinets — sanded, primed, and painted — and then I bought new knobs and drawer pulls at a local discount store. The hinges of the cabinets I sprayed painted silver to match (bought from a dollar store).
The appliances came from an estate sale. The butcher block countertop, the shelves on the wall, the kitchen sink, and the kitchen chairs are all from IKEA. I got the table from Target discounted, as it was the display model and had a few minor dings (no big deal as I have three children and that would happen anyways). The lighting and faucet are from Home Depot. The bamboo shades were a deal at the Christmas Tree Shop for only $9 each.
The entire kitchen project cost us around $2,500."
Here are Devyn's kitchen makeover "after" photos:
Kitchen (after): Stainless appliances, butcher block countertops, and fresh, white cabinets
Kitchen (after): Chairs from IKEA and table found on mark-down at Target
Kitchen (after): Bamboo shades from Christmas Tree Shop
Kitchen (after): Yellow paint brightens the whole room
Didn't Devyn do a great job? The kitchen looks so cheery, bright, and organized now.

Great kitchen remodel! You did a fantastic job. I can never seem to stay on budget while remodeling - I am extremely impressed with you!
A million times better, it looks awesome now! Great job!
wow.....looks good now.....what a great job!
thank you
I really like the bamboo shade and the color where the two white doors are. Hard to decorate an area with multiple doors but you made it look fresh and clean.
So gorgeous. Well done!
Wow! Great job! I still need to do just about every room in our house. We moved in a year ago and have not done too much at all. I may have to use some of her ideas in my kitchen I do believe!
OMG! A complete transformation!! DesignStar is calling...
