I was beyond impressed when my friend showed me her bedroom, and I saw that she had painted a pink faux headboard on the wall (similar to the one above). Love it! It's a thrifty alternative to expensive headboards. Plus, it's great for small spaces.
There are plenty of places on the Web to get headboard stencils:
- Really fancy headboard stencils (including the wrought iron headboard above) can be found on Designer Stencils—but for a price.
- The Stencil Library has more affordable stencils you can paint above your bed.
- Download a basic, classy headboard stencil for free at Better Homes and Gardens.
Or for the ultimate in low-cost DIY, draw your own faux headboard freehand like my friend did (it looks great in her REALLY small space)!

Do you have a faux headboard?
