I take pride in my decorating skills. Every time I have friends over, they always rave about how cute my apartment is.
Looking back though, I've made some pretty bad decorating choices!
I laugh when I think about how my room was decorated when I was in middle school. Remember those inflatable chairs? Or those blacklight posters? Yep, had those.
And even though my personality was about as far away from a hippie as you could possibly get, my room was filled with candles, blacklights, and incense. The majority of my decor items were from Spencer's Gift Shop and the color theme was neon, neon, neon.
I think I'd take my NKOTB comforter when I was seven over that, LOL!
What did some of your worst decorating choices look like?

LOL.. I painted a hallway (with no windows) in our home a deep dark barn red, because I saw it in a PB catalog and loved it. Yeah... but that room (in the catalog) had oodles of windows and light shelving to set off the red. It was SO dark in there when I was done and SO gloomy, even with all the lights on, that I immediately went to lowes for another gallon of a cream colored paint. I'm all for expressive colors in the home but WOW it was a bad color for this particular space.
As a teen I had the typical room.. posters everywhere.. but it was turquoise blue and had a disco ball... also from spencers. lol
I had an inflatable chair too. *shudder*
I had a lava lamp, a black light and I wanted an inflatable chair. Where was my brain?
Rubber duckies. When I was 18 I moved out on my own and I basically filled my bathroom with rubber duckies. I think I got up to about 150 duckies themselves, then shower curtain, trash can, etc. Then boyfriend (now husband) moved in a couple months later and goes "It's hard to pee with a 100 ducks starring at you". LOL!
omg LadyKiki... that happened to me on accident! My DH's family heard I collected unique rubber duckies (think rambo ducky.. devil ducky.. navy ducky.. burlesque ducky.. I had about 20 of them) But they werent something I displayed.. I just kept them in a box and got them as gifts sometimes.. so imagine my shock when our wedding presents from all his aunts, his mom, and his grandmas was duck shower curtain... duck toothbrush holder.. duck peel and stick decals.. duck shower rug.. duck towels... I was like... WTF! lol. I know they were meaning all the best and it was so sweet but.. WOW. It worked out though.. we just put it all in the "kid" bathroom, hehe
woah! we totally had the same decorating sense! candles, lava lamps, and i also had this big bright yellow and blue sunflower comforter. my vanity table was covered in pictures of my friends and i goofing off, old friendship bracelets and little momentos of childhood. wet and wild nail polish, covergirl eye liner.... sorry... wasn't this about decorating?!
luminous mom.... that's AWESOME!
LOL when i was in my teen years...one of my best friends, since she lived in an apartment, she had posters of celebrities up all over her bedroom wall, there was absolutely no space for anything else on her walls and some posters of the weed plant LOL. i guess its her way of decorating but it was horrible to me!
maybe my MIL likes it this way but she's got paneling halfway up her walls and the rest is sheetrock and not only is it just paneling, its different textures on each and everyone of them so her house is very busy! then she's got TONS of pics of the family on the wall PLUS decorations that arent seperated, they just run into each other...it bothers me but it is not my house!
