Spring is finally here. The sun is shining, the birds are singing—but I've still got a pile of winter blankets and a dark depressing comforter on my bed. I always use the same sheets and bedspread year-round, but then a friend told me she switched hers every season.
Every spring, she gives her home a mini makeover—she changes the curtains, bedding, throw rugs, and pillows throughout her house to make it look lighter and brighter. It feels like a whole new house and it doesn't break the bank.
I decided to copy her so I'm looking for some pretty spring/summery sheets. The ones shown here are 50% off at The Company Store, and I think they're pretty cute, but I'm going to keep looking.
Do you change your home decor with the season? What kind of changes do you make?

Nope. I do not find my dark comforter depressing at all. I keep it on year-round because it is part of the exact weight I have to have covering me, no matter the season. I never understand the need to make things "spring-y" but that could be because I love winter and colder weather, and have enough reminders of the horrible weather outside now as it is.
I change mine! Mostly its because of the heat though... in the winter its so cold here we use comfy flannel sheets and down blankets on all the beds, but in the summer I switch to nice lightweight cotton sheets and a bright light blue cotton coverlet. Most of the time we end up kicking that off too and just using sheets! Even with AC it can be unbearably hot in the summer so you kinda HAVE to change your bedding.
we're a relatively new family/couple and i'm slowly incorporating this into our house. that and christmas decorations, harvest, easter... etc. i do switch out a few things. i take out lighter softer blankets and take down some of the heavy dark decor.
I do. I always feel like it makes me jump into the spring and summer by having the light colors.
i'm slowly adding things to my collection to do this too.
I don't, but it actually sounds like a cool idea, just to refresh the home every 6 months.
We switch sheets because we use flannel sheets in the winter and cotton in the summer. I leave the comforter though, it's chocolate brown and turquoise and works for Summer too.
I am thinking about using a quilt for my bed for this Summer though, my MIL made it for us and she's coming to visit.. plus it's beautiful.
I switch every season. We live in the high desert (above 4,000 ft) and it's really cold in the winter. My winter comforter is very heavy and dark plum with hand embroidery. Summers are unbearably hot, so I use all cotton sheets, with a light blue and yellow quilt set. I switch curtains, bed linens, dust ruffles, pictures on the walls, bathroom towels, etc. as the season changes. My husband draws the line at moving the furniture! lol
