Here's some breaking news from the New York Times (seriously, was it a slow news day or what?): Pre-rinsing dishes before putting them in the dishwasher is a big mistake. BIG mistake.
Not only does it waste water and electricity, but if there is no "food soil" in the washer, then the detergent, which ordinarilyaggressively goes after food, has no choice but to attack glassware, making them cloudy. A simple scrape before loading is all you need.
Ha! I knew it. My husband and I fight about this all the time. He pretty much insists on that we scour, bleach, sanitize, you name it, before putting them in the dishwasher. But that ends now!
Do you pre-rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher?
