Easy, Effective Ways to Tackle the 6 Worst Kid Messes Ever

We call them children, kids, tots, and tykes, but we might just as well call them tiny loveable tornados for all the havoc they wreak as they sweep across the landscapes of our lives, turning everything upside down and inside out. The good news is that help is on the way.

Let the HDX line of cleaning products help you get your home looking mess-free again.  Available exclusively at The Home Depot, HDX offers the value you’re looking for without sacrificing good quality performance.  Read on for tricks and techniques for tidying up after your miniature mess-makers.

1. So, your kid got into the diaper cream and smeared it all over not only herself but also her bed sheets, comforter, and pillow? Throw everything in a FlexPro trash bag and take it to the laundromat for a deep clean. Even if it knocks around in your trunk en route, the tear-resistant bag will keep everything contained so you don’t end up spreading the grease onto your carpet, car, and clothes.

2. Your friend raved about potty training her kid by just letting him run around outside without a diaper all day, and you thought you’d give it a try too. Unfortunately, she trained in summer but you’re training when it’s too cold for bare buns in the yard. As the saying goes, accidents will happen, so keep plenty of antibacterial wipes on hand for cleanup.

3. If someone were composing a list of the world’s worst combinations, I’d put in my vote for spaghetti sauce, carpet, and the stomach flu. Wipe up the immediate mess and then tackle the rug by sprinkling the area with baking soda and then spraying it with a mixture of vinegar and warm water. Reclaim the disaster zone with a rug cleaner loaded with Extractor Carpet Shampoo.

4. Stainless steel fridge, meet the child who thought you could use some sprucing up via finger paint. Horrified parents, meet the Citrus Degreaser, which washes away the “art” and leaves a fresh scent behind.

5. Your wonderful child used every crayon he owns to draw you the most beautiful rainbow...on the kitchen floor tile. This would be the perfect time for an “undo” button to make it all go away, but until they start selling them, at least the Easy Eraser comes pretty close.

6. Behold, the humble terry towel! So simple! So inexpensive! So helpful for soaking up the contents of a sippy cup that leaked all over the inside of your purse! *sad trombone*
