natural cleaning supplies

Yoyu don't need to use harsh chemicals to clean your home. Here are some ideas for using common grocery staples to eliminate stains, odors, mold and mildew.

What are your favorite natural cleaners?

  • Lemon

    1

Lemon juice contains acid, which kills most forms of mold and mildew. Apply equal parts lemon juice and water to moldy and mildewed areas. Let sit for 10 minutes before washing with warm, soapy water.

  • Cornstarch

    2

Cornstarch is a fine, dry powder that is highly effective at absorbing grease. Rub cornstarch into grease stains on clothing and let sit before laundering with hot water and detergent.

  • White Vinegar

    3

White vinegar breaks down grease, mold, bacteria and germs. Spray a vinegar and water mixture onto the inside of the fridge and wipe clean with a sponge.

  • Baking Soda

    4

Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) neutralizes odors by reacting with other chemicals. Sprinkle baking soda in the bottom of your garbage before lining with a plastic bag.

  • Salt

    5

Salt helps soak up fresh liquid spills before they saturate and stain carpet.  Cover the stain with salt and leave it until dry, then vacuum up the salt
