Woman Saves Dog Whose Owner Threatened to Kill It on Craigslist (VIDEO)

dogWe all know not everyone is equipped with enough patience and compassion to be a parent; the same goes for being a pet owner. Case in point: a dog owner in Illinois posted a Craigslist ad threatening to shoot her dog if no one took him by the end of the day. The headline read, "Dog needs gone or shot."

While some may have dismissed this as a sadistic joke, one animal lover took the menacing words very seriously and rushed to save it. "In the description, it said they had no use for the dog, and if it wasn't gone by the end of the day, they were going to shoot it," said Liz Pendleton, a veterinary student who cried as she read it. She then decided to drive an hour-and-a-half to rescue the pooch. When she arrived, a woman handed over the 4-year-old German Shepherd mix without barely uttering a word.

It was clear the poor creature suffered from neglect, as she could easily feel ribs under his coat. Other than that, he appeared to be in good health. "He just wants love," Pendleton added. "He deserves so much more than what he's had."

This is so incredibly sad. Threatening your pet’s life over Craigslist  is a whole new low. If this isn't a crime, it should be. Pendleton said she alerted the police of the ad, but it's not clear whether they acted on it. At the very least, this is animal cruelty. Where the hell are the PETA protesters. But as awful as this is, I suppose it was a quicker way to get him a new home than dropping him off at the pound. So wonderful that this woman went out of her way to ensure his safety. Pendleton has since named him Buck, but admitted that she can't permanently care for it and is looking for a good home to take him in.

What do you think should happen to the former pet owners who posted that ad?
