Bradley Cooper and mom GloriaBradley Cooper had a little bit of a shocking announcement about his home life recently -- and it's not that he has an STD-filled grotto in the backyard or a menagerie of chimps in the front. It's that Bradley Cooper lives with his mom. And not really in that icky ewwy he's-totally-a mama's-boy way. Bradley's mother, Gloria, moved in with her handsome movie star son after her husband, Charles, passed away from cancer in 2011. Bradley wanted to be there to support his mom through such a devastating loss -- so she moved right in. Aww. Don't you just want to clone him?
But Bradley makes it clear that he's not just living with his mother -- he's living with someone he actually enjoys being around. Bradley told Details magazine:
Don't get me wrong. It's not without complications. It's not like I live in a compound and she's in the guesthouse. No. She's in the next room. But here's the thing: She's a cool chick. We can hang, and she can roll with the punches. If that wasn't the case, there's no way.
Yeah, really. Can you imagine if he brought him his new 20-year-old model girlfriend Suki Waterhouse, and mom was all like, "Braaaadley, why don't you get a nice girl your own age and settle down and have some babies? You're almost 40 for goodness sake! She's half your age. HALF YOUR AGE. What happened to that Jennifer girl? I liked her. If you were going to date a girl half your age, why not her, eh? Braaaadley, are you listening to your mother?"
Seriously, that would be right wrong. But, sheesh, in the next room? I hope there are some thick walls in that house.
Anyway, as someone who hasn't lived with a parent since I was a teen, I find this kind of unfathomable, but I could see how it could work well if you got along. If not, it would like living in the seventh circle of hell. Imagine being middle-aged and nagged to pick up your socks and eat your veggies. There's a reason kids eventually move out! Actually, being nagged to pick up socks and eat veggies has a kind of nice, nostalgic ring to it. I must be getting old.
Anyway, I'm glad it's working out for Bradley and Gloria. I'd love to have dinner over there one night. Bradley? Ohhh, Bradley??
Could you live with your mom?
