Have you ever wanted to adopt a dog ... that kind of looks like you? Well, guess what, you're in luck! Tonik, a poodle/shih tzu mix, may be the old-man-looking pup you've always wanted. There's just something about that dog's expression that's so human-like. It's adorable yet kinda creepy all at the same time. Doesn't that go for most humans nowadays anyway?
Little Tonik's photos have been making the rounds as, if you haven't guessed by now, "the dog with the human face." And his story is a sad one, so if you live in Indiana or are willing to travel there to give him a nice home (and you don't have kids), you could help turn that teeny little man-frown upside-down.
Poor Tonik found his way to the Homeward Bound Animal Welfare Group from a kill shelter in Kentucky. You can check out all the details on his ad on Petfinder. Seems like he gets along well with other dogs, but small kids might make him nervous. He is only 2 years old, and all you need is $250 to adopt this little guy who looks like he's taking on his tiny shoulders all the sadness in the universe.
Granted, most fluffy dogs kind of look like mustached old men at the right angle, but there's just something so expressive and such a depth in Tonik's eyes. And that downcast frown makes you think he has seen a lot in this world he'd wish to un-see. The thought of Tonik facing a kill shelter would probably tug at anyone's heartstrings. You'd hope any pup, regardless if he looks like your perpetually depressed uncle, would never have to experience something like that. And whoever took these photos (well, it's actually Renny Mills, a professional pet photographer) deserves props for giving this interesting-looking dog the best chance he'll probably ever get at finding a loving home.
