Beyonce & Jay-Z's Hamptons Summer Rental Home Costs More Than Most Make in a Year (PHOTO)

Celebrities spare no expense when it comes to taking lavish vacations, and the summer home that Beyonce and Jay-Z have rented in the Hamptons for a little fun in the sun is no exception. Along with their beloved daughter Blue Ivy, the couple is spending the month of August holed up in a $43.5 million mansion, which they've rented for $400,000. Yes -- this place costs $400,000 just for one month!

The home is located in Bridgehampton, and it's beyond huge at 31,000 square feet. It's nicknamed "The Sandcastle," and after seeing photos of the incredible estate, I'd say anything containing the word "castle" is a pretty good fit.

The master suite alone in this place is 2,800 square feet -- which is about the size of my house, so I can't even imagine why anyone would need a bedroom that big. And when they aren't sleeping the days away in their whopper of a master bedroom -- Beyonce and Jay-Z can swim with little Blue Ivy in the 60-foot heated pool.

And for those times when they need to enjoy a little bit of time as a couple, they can take advantage of the spa, gym, bowling alley, rock-climbing wall, and recording studio that the home offers (in addition to a bunch of other fun spaces for recreation).

Finding a decent parking space at the pad won't be a challenge either, as the home has an eight-car garage. (Who brings eight cars on vacation?!)

I know celebrities like their privacy and all, but I just can't understand why anyone would feel the need to have a place this big for a family of three. Even with their entourage, 31,000 square feet seems a bit extravagant. Part of the fun of taking a beach vacation is cozying up with the ones you love in a quaint little cottage -- but then again, maybe that's exactly what this place feels like to people like Beyonce and Jay-Z.

If money were no object, would you rent a summer home this big, or would you rather keep things a bit more simple?

even if i had money, i wouldnt spend it like these famous people do. If youve just gotta spend that much money... Get some good security, find a small, cute, little cottage & send a BUNCH of needy families on a vacation.

$400,000 in RENT? If I had their kind of money, I would be BUYING a house in the Hamptons. What a frivolous waste of money but they are so removed from reality I doubt they care.

I am sure they have an entourage as well as assistants and the like. Also they probably entertain lavishly...

@Michelle -- You can't even buy a house in the Hamptons for 400,000. Even the tiniest most run down shacks START at about 1 million or so. It's crazy! It's all about location, location, location.

I think if I had that much money to rent a place like this I rather buy something smaller and call it my own

Everyone seems to have an opinion on what these people do with their money...even the author. Just because you would buy a cottage, doesnt mean other people should. And it doesn't mean they are removed from reality. It seems like YOU are removed from reality, because what they do with their money is THEIR business. Not mine, or yours. Who are you to say whats frivulous? They give their money to charity, at the end of the day, who should really care what they do with their disposable income? If they wanted to wipe their @sses with it, who cares?

That is one big vacation home. I'm looking for key west vacation rentals. I'm hoping it won't cost that much, or even half of that!
