Get ready for your heart to completely melt: Here's a video showing a fireman rescuing two dogs from a house fire. Not only does he bring them out of a smoking house, he revives them, too. With his own oxygen mask.
These poor scrawny little dogs. They are completely limp when the firemen bring them out. The owner seems a little pushy at first, demanding, "Did you get my dog out?" But he's just worried about his pets. See what he does when he sees how far the firemen will go to save his dogs.
What a relief to see those dogs walking and drinking water by the end! Did you see all of that smoke? You can tell the dogs were not going to make it in that house for very much longer. It's a close call for them. Lucky animals to be so kindly rescued and treated. Despite all his bluster it looks like the owner is truly grateful to have his dogs back alive and well.
About half a million pets die in house fires every year. And while fire alarms will send you running out of a burning building, they can scare and confuse pets. It's a good idea to put stickers on your window indicating that you have pets in case of an emergency.
By the way, this video is from a documentary project on fire fighters in Detroit called BURN: One Year on the Front Lines of the Battle to Save Detroit.
Have you ever lost a pet in a house fire?

As much as that guy seemed to care about his dogs, I wonder why he didn't get them or bring them out with him. Perhaps he arrived home to that, but it that was me and I came home to a fire and my furbabies were trapped inside, I'd be flipping sh#t and you'd have to restraing me to keep me from going in. I don't understand how people could leave their pets inside a burning house unless they had a lot of kids. I've taken my cats in their carriers out of my apartment building with me when I was almost positive it was a false alarm.
...And then I get a tad angry. Because I think of these great people who do such amazing things for a pathetic salary while people like the kardashians are out buying $750,000 cars for their boyfriend who could afford to buy 5 of them on his own on any given day. Our society places way too much value on mind numbing, vapid entertainers while deserving people get nothing. :::rant off:::
lol, I totally agree with you NatAndco.
turned off by the owner.....but sure glad those babies were saved. Now, hopefully he has them properly trained and not abused.
The owner is acting like a douche, would have been a better story if he wasnt in it.
I dont care what the owner looks like - the fact that he actually cares for his animals is enough for me. They could look like aliens with green skin and scale tattoos and if they actually care about their pets as this dog owner does then I am satisfied.
And abra? That is a pretty steep judgement to make - dont judge a book by their cover. Did you not see him covering that puppy's head with water? trying to get him to drink? and shaking the firemans hand and patting him on the back in thanks?
I have worked in a vet clinic and I have seen all sorts of people come through - from the high-society hoity-toities to the lower class working people. And I can tell you that those dogs are definitely not abused...if they were, they would have not been fat and healthy looking as those dogs were.
@ CPN - I'd have to lean towards he came home and found the fire. I don't think a guy standing around worrying about his dogs would have left them inside a burning building. Especially with how carefully he was treating them after the firefighters got them out and how grateful he was to the firefighters for trying to save them.
What a sweet story. Those were some lucky dogs! And adorable ones, too. So glad they got out okay. I've never had to rescue my pets from a housefire. And if my house ever did catch on fire, I probably wouldn't have to "resuce" my dog....he'd be waiting at the door wondering what the heck was taking me so long!
