Light & Bright: Happy Sun-Drenched Nursery

by Gabrielle Blair on June 7, 2012 at 10:19 AM

Gray makes for such a perfect starting point when it comes to designing nurseries, which explains why we've been seeing so much of it! There are just so many different directions you can take, from nice and neutral to bright pops of color ... kind of like this happy nursery spotted at the b-line

Amy re-vamped a formerly dark and dreary guest room into this sun-filled space for her little one by re-purposing a few key pieces and accenting with fun fabrics, some of which she designed herself.

See a few more details below:

I love that Amy wasn't afraid to mix patterns and designs from the pillows to the fabric embroidery hoops to that darling mobile she DIY'd for only $5!

What a smart idea to use an IKEA Expedit shelving unit as a window seat/extra storage. I love multi-purposing, don't you?

The print on the left served as inspiration for the colorful accents scattered throughout the room, and the top right print was illustrated by Amy herself -- a delightful personal touch.

The space will transition from nursery to older child's room really well.

(You can find a few more pics of this super cute nursery and a lot more details here, or on Amy's blog here.)

What ideas do you have for creating a nursery that easily transitions into a room for bigger kids?
