This past weekend, I noticed a video about a dog rescue in L.A. popping up over and over again in my Facebook news feed, and I finally decided to click on it to see what it was all about. And then about three minutes later, I found myself sitting at my kitchen island with tears in my eyes over the incredible act of kindness that one couple showed a lost dog who happened to be living in a pile of trash.
The poor little thing was blind in both eyes and totally infested with fleas, and after getting a tip that she was in dire need of help, this couple went and rescued her -- and gave her the most amazing gift.
Watch the video clip below from beginning to end to hear the story of the rescue of "Fiona" -- and make sure you have a box of tissues nearby. You're going to need them.
Ok, are you done crying yet? Did that video not give you the biggest warm fuzzy you've ever had?!? I get more and more inspired every single time I watch it, and it makes me want to go out and do something good and selfless for someone else, whether animal or human.
By far, my favorite part of this video was after Fiona had surgery to restore sight in one of her eyes, and she climbed up on the woman who rescued her and her little tail started wagging. It was almost like she was thanking her for bringing her back from the brink of death and giving her a chance at a happy life.
It's amazing just how far a small act of kindness goes. This story is such an important reminder to us all that we should never hesitate to reach out and offer a helping hand when we see that it's needed. Fiona's story would've had a much different ending if it weren't for the goodness of strangers, which just goes to show that no gesture is too small when it comes to being kind.
