My son is only 6 years old, but I've already caught myself worrying about how I'm going to keep tabs on him once he gets older and wants to go out with his friends all the time. (Hold me.)
High schoolers love to be independent and have fun, but the fear of them getting into some kind of trouble is always looming. Thankfully, I have a few more years before I have to be too concerned about my little guy's whereabouts.
One couple in England named Claire Farrow and Ian Hogarth, however, came up with the ultimate solution to keep their teenagers under wraps. They simply built a nightclub complete with flashing lights, a dance floor, and a DJ booth in the basement of their home. Is this the most genius move you've ever heard or what?
The space cost about £1million to build, and in addition to the nightclub-esque area, they also put in a sauna and a film screening room to help entertain their 12- and 16-year-old kids and their friends. It's a win-win situation for all parties involved. They know that their kids are safe, and in turn, their kids have a fun and cool place to bring their friends after school and on weekends. (Somehow I'm guessing they're the most popular teens in town.)

Ian and Claire ultimately built the lavish features of the home so they could rest assured that their children were safe and sound while hanging out with their friends. However, it's important to also note that they run an architecture firm -- and odds are good that this project has done wonders for their business. If nothing else, the space sure adds a nice feature to their portfolio.
Would you consider building a nightclub in your home if you could afford it?

I'll put a wood floor and speakers... boom dancing floor and dj lol
It seems wrong to me that some people are creating lavish spaces just to entertain their children while other kids are starving. This is ridiculous.
O yes I would thats cool!!!
I agree that this will grow old soon and then they spent all that money for nothing. Are they going to be chaperoning all the time down there? I think many people have done the same thing but for way less money...wood floor, some speakers, dj table, "bar" filled with soda and chips, pool table and big screen tv....coiuld convert a basement for under $10, 000 and then use the rest of the money to support the homeless, elderly, disabled and of course, poor children.
Remember she put 1 million pounds. So it actually is even more than that if you convert it to the US dollar. However, it is their money to spend and who says that they do not donate money?
$100 says they have a law suit on their hands in 6 monhts or less by some outraged parent because the teens were doing things that teens do in a club. While I understand what they were trying to accomplish all I see is a legal nightmare.
